Granite 101 - tell me how to buy it, and what you learned when you bought it and recs too...
please?
never before purchased.
got an over the phone quote of "2000- 2500" with sink. of course depends on the peice we pick out...

Bathroom or Kitchen?
When I purchased my granite bathroom vanity I went to a place in West Babylon. I was quoted $765 for a 48" vanity top only.
A few weeks later, I went to a place in College Point Queens and bought it for $400 (this included a backsplash and a bathtub window surround that the first quote did not include)
Same Exact Granite (Santa Cecila Dark)
If you have time and patience, I would go to a local grainte yard or two and get prices then make my way to Queens to see if they can match/beat it.

Duh! i should have mentioned for my kitchen.
i don't have a large kitchen... 9X9 to be exact. college point queens??? hmmm.. i'll see if DH knows the area.

they do install but we didn't have them do it.
I went there with my measurements/drawings and had it made and delivered. DH took care of the install.
I think for a kitchen you would need any company to really come and measure correctly over the cabinets.
Like I said mine was for a factory stock bathroom cabinet so it was easy to order.

stone edge granite in smithtown. They did the template on a Saturday, we picked out the slab that day and it was installed by Tuesday. 3 day turn around. We paid cash for the granite and were able to negotiate price.
