Re: How important is the street name you live on to you?
It was important to me...the first house we looked at we really, really liked, but the street name was Haight Street, and you pronounced it Hate! Couldn't do it! On the other hand, one of my students lived on Starlight Walk...I always pictured it to have old fashioned street lamps and trees lining the streets

this is a good question. I admit that even though I did not seek it out by name if it has a "pretty" sounding name I liked the house more when I was looking. So now I live on a nice named street after a f lower.

I wouldn't care at all what the name of the street is and i certainly wouldn't let it deter me from buying if i liked the house. Its the house itself and the overall neighborhood that matters. A name is just a name..
What gets me is i live on Berkeley Ave.. and two streets away is Berkeley Street. So whenever we have delivery we have to make sure they know to specify Ave.. Inevitably we get a call from the delivery guy.. uh i'm standing on your street and can't find your house - and he's on the wrong Berkeley of course!
Near me is the corner of Church Street and Church Place....

Considering I grew up on lower sheep pasture rd...I will be happy with anything that would fit on my lic!
I love that as a street name, but I can see it being a PIA. People mentioned the bizarre Levitton names--my dad grew up on Book Lane--which I thought was really cute & would love to live on.
I rented on a Locust street, & though that was Someone had to point out to me that it was probably named after the tree & not the bug.
I am that petty & would probably not consider a house on weird named street. I love that I live on a "road" b/c I grew up mostly around streets & avenues & like the basic-ness of "road".

I wouldn't care if it was the most horrible name in the world! If the house was great I'd take it!

Doesn't really bother me.
The street I live on now has a really weird name. It's a Lane, but the first two words are always making people go I think its cool, and I actually read the story in Newsday a few years back on how the street got it's name!

I dont think I would care unless it was something awful. That being said though I do like our street name.
