Around 5 months - he was so big and chunky that it was just too uncomfortable for him to be in it any more.

DS was switched at 5 months
DD was switched at a little over 2 months. (she HATED her infant carrier)

ive been wondering this. we have the peg perego primo viaggio and its starting to get tight for my 4 month old. so i guess its safe for them to be front facing at around this age?

ive been wondering this. we have the peg perego primo viaggio and its starting to get tight for my 4 month old. so i guess its safe for them to be front facing at around this age?
Oh no!! Can't go front facing till at least a year, but the new recommendation is now 2 years!!!
Switch to the convertible carseat and also have it rear facing!!!

maybe im brain farting but i cant visualize any convert. car seats rear facing! maybe its just not done that often (aka more babies stay in their infant seats until 1 year)

We switched my DD at 8 months old. I held out so long because she was born in Sept. and I wanted to get through the winter with the infant carrier because it was SO much easier!! As soon as April hit and the weather was nicer we switched her. She LOVED the new carseat too.......so roomy!!

The convertible seat fits fine rear facing. In fact, *technically* you don't need an infant seat ever........the convertible seats are meant for infants to 40-50 lbs. Ours was rear facing from the time my DD was 8 months old (when we moved her out of the infant seat) to when she was 14 months old when we turned her front facing. My DD is tall and her legs were getting too crumpled up rear facing.

4 months. He was a beast and I couldn't carry him anymore in the infant seat.

this is another reason im looking to change to the convert. seat.
while I wouldnt classify Sophia as a "beast", she's close.
shes about 15.5lbs at 4 months (90% for height, 80% for weight) and we just happened to get the HEAVIEST infant carseast ever made!!!
i wouldnt get the primo viaggio again. my biceps are bigger than popeyes bc of it

DD#1 was 11 months when we switched her b/c outgrew it height wise. DD#2 is 7.5 months and is still in hers.

rear-facing convertible since 3.5 mos old
we have one that holds 5lbs to 65lbs, so we figured it was fine
