Pampers swaddlers- how do you know when to go up a size?

Pampers swaddlers- how do you know when to go up a size?
DS is 5 weeks and about 11 lbs. He is wearing size 1 swaddlers but Ive started noticing red rings around his legs where the diaper is. They are supposed to go up to 14 lbs so Im not sure if maybe I should try the size 1-2, which only goes up to 15 lbs. The waist on the size 1 is still big on him though, so Im not sure what size to buy.

i went from size 1 to size 1-2 one box then i went to size 2

We use Swaddlers. I think you move to size 2. I found that once i got close to the weight limit, they were too small. If the waist is big on size 2 just tighten the diaper. My DS started leaking so we went up a size and it has been great. Try it out, maybe buy a small package 1st.

We go up a size when DD poops start to explode out of the diaper.
I expect a poop explosion every now and then, but when I get several a week, I go up a size.
