Regretting Color - Need HELP!!!!

Hi Ladies!!

Thank you in advance - looking for a miracle!!

So i'm not sure if too many people remember me on this particular board. I purchased a home back in May, it was a short sale and things have been nuts. ANYHOW.....I need help/advice/ideas, gimme what ya got

We ended up closing on May 15 and had to be out of our place by June 1 which left us 2 weeks to clean up our new place & paint, etc. We had painters come in and I had to hastily pick colors which i'm regretting right now. I wanted a nice blue/purple/greyish color in my bedroom. Can't describe exactly but something very subtle. I picked Phillipsburg Blue from BM like an @SS!!!! Now i'm having a hard time decorating, i'm terrible to begin with. I told DH that I want to change the color and he wants to beat me down The painters did a phenomenal job, he is ready to kill me. So pls help me save this color?? The bedding I got before we bought the house and the 2nd bedding we got will never match, it's all pastels. (i'll try to include a pic). Can you ladies help me either:
a) tie it all in somehow w decorating tips & accessories, pic ideas, etc.
b) tell me to completely get rid of the sets I have and what colors to use
c) tell me to get rid of this BOLD blue color!!!!!!!!!

I like it as an accent wall color but to be honest it's a bit too dark for a whole room for my taste. You're lucky though since it seems you get a ton of natural light. Would your DH let you paint 3 of the walls beige?? I really like the bedding that's on the bed now.

I think it looks really nice with the light bedding. I love when you accent dark walls with whites, it feels so clean to me. It may be the pics, but I think it looks fine.

i LOVE that color, but i like color. i'd lighten it up with long white panels on your windows and white shelves with black frames and your personal pics in them. black & whites would look awesome!

dont repaint yet, simply lightn up with accents. i love it!!

Thank you so much with your responses ladies!! I do have white sheer valances hanging, I need to take better pics. The room just seems so cold to me for some odd reason. There is a lot of light and it's not dark at all but the colors are just very cold. The rest of my house is taupes/cinnamon/sage and this blue is just so stark to me. I was thinking of doing maybe a yellow & white bedspread with some big yellow flowers in a vase but wasn't sure how it would look

I really like the color. I think it looks great with your bedroom set and bedding. I agree with a PP about long white sheers.
The only other thing I might change, are the closet doors. Can you paint them white?

Ive got to be honest, I LOVE it. I think it all looks great. I know what you mean though, people tell me they love my living room, but it just feels unfinished to me and I cant figure it out. Maybe a nice piece of art on the wall. Some dark wood, mirrors or frames hanging up. A floor vase, in a cool green. Go walk around home goods, they have TONS of great stuff. Do you have bedside lamps, maybe some bedside lamps.

How about a nice tray with some accessories on the dresser?

LOVE LOVE LOVEEEE this color. In the infamous words of Ms. Hilton. IT LOOKS HOTTT!!

Add in some white accessories if you want to lighten it up a bit, i like white for contrast. White shelves, white vases, curtains, maybe a white area rug for the floor and perhaps paint the closet door white to match the moldings.

I think its gorgeous- I agree with the other girls about adding extra white touches- frames, moulding, long sheers would really brighten it up

i love it but i am into darker colors in bedrooms! As everyone said add white vases, white shelves, if you want to brighten it up. You can also add yellow accents (blue and yellow go) but i wouldn't go too nuts with yellow (like candles, maybe coasters, maybe in a painting)

I love it.

My kitchen is blue and black with yellow and white accents. It looks beautiful. Go with the yellow to brighten it up and see what you think.

I love the color of your bedroom. Especially with your furniture & the white accents.

I would add a bit more accesories to make the room feel more cozy.

How about some table lamps, and some throw pillows with some contrasting color - like green or coral?

Maybe some simple pictures above the bed.

Here are a few pics for ideas:

Lamps - you could go with a lighter color or maybe a a brushed silver with a nice drum shade in white.


Throw pillows in different patterns in shades of blue


Hints of color like the throw blanket on the bed or the lamp shade

I completely agree with everyone else. White curtains or sheers. Hang them high and to the floor. It will lighten and soften the room. Some white shelves and picture frames. I would paint the doors white. And than use yellow as a nice pop of color. A nice vase or a accent pillow for the bed. Maybe look for some nice art work with yellow in it, but nothing too bold or crazy. GL! I really love the paint color with your furniture and the bedding.

I know this is a lighter color then you have, but do you see how they used the white and then the pop of yellow in the room.


OR

You could go with an Orange pop of color with the white accents.



OR

with pictures and curtains and lamps, the room looks homey. (i'm not saying you have to do gold like in this pic)

I wouldn't change the color at all! Its dark, yes, but its a beautiful color and as previous posters advised...decorate it with white accents and it will look beautiful and cozy!

I wouldn't change it at all but agree with the others-- add some yellow or gold in to give you some 'sunshine' and warmth. if you are near a fabric store, go in and get some swatches of yellow and orange fabrics and see what you think in the room. You might be surprised with how the room changes with the addition of those colors.

I really like the color and the furniture too - there's something about the blue/brown and white that is really classic looking. My suggestion (and i think another poster said it too) would be to paint the closet doors white to help lighten things up.
I'm not sure that yellow would really go in there.. maybe muted gold accents, but not a bright yellow.

I'm a big fan of putting plants into a room to help make it warmer - the green would go with the color scheme you have and would help it feel less cold.
