What town do you live in?
Is it Nassau, or Suffolk...do you like it? Why?
DH and I are finally house hunting...
We are all over the place right now...East Islip, Merrick, Levittown....you name it. We just dont know WHERE we are going to end up. I have always lived in Franklin Square...so I dont know much about other towns...so just looking for info.
Thanks!!

Re: What town do you live in?
Nassau, Long Beach
I love it
it's a great "city"
you can walk and do alot of things- from the beach to dinner
great sense of community
we have a small move theater- you really only have to leave to work
which is the only negative I have- it takes a good 20 minutes plus to get to the highway
and the Atlantic beach bridge- which is a short cut if you are heading west- cost $2 each way- no ezpass accepted
I hope we can find a house there that we can afford

Bethpage.
We never even considered it when we were looking.
Small town feel Lots of nearby shopping, restaurants Close to all highways and train Family oriented Lower taxes because of Grumman, Cablevision (hey they're good for something) Affordable houses Great Schools-lots of school spirit
Clean, well kept houses.

Re: What town do you live in?
North Bellmore, Nassau.
We both work in the city and couldn't afford anything on the North Shore...taxes esp. We bought a big nice house but our house on the north shore would be untouchable for us. So we went for nicer house over that... I grew up in Huntington and DH grew up in Queens so we wanted to be somewhere in the middle.
I hope we can move to the North Shore eventually, its just SO much easier!
ETA its awesome for now, the only negative is the Southern State!

Suffolk County - Farmingdale. We love it! We are on a dead end street with great neighbors and in the Half Hollow Hills School District. We really focused on the school districts when we were searching because that's were your resale is.
Good Luck

Re: What town do you live in?
Ronkonkoma in suffolk county.
I was basically born and raised here so I'm a bit biased. But it's a great location. Close to major highway, train, airport etc. good schools. Very central to everything!

Re: What town do you live in?
Suffolk County - Sayville.
I love it. It has everything I wanted in a town.
It has a good school district that is small enough for one on one teacher interaction - but big enough that they have a ton of programs and opportunities for kids with all different interests and talents. And they take the time to understand the children. I love that the administrators know the kids - the troublemakers, the good kids and everyone in between. They get involved and try to help them really find their passions.
It not only has a living Main Street.. it has a THRIVING Main Street. It's fun to just wander through town and pop in and see friendly faces. And after a day of shopping - there are restaurants to suit any palate there - 21 Main for a high end steak house experience, Crickets for a more casual dining experience, Cafe Joelle for intimate, romantic meals, Sayville Inn for a great burger, Portly Villager for giant sandwiches and a beer, La Tavola for killer Italian, Aegean for good Greek - and more.
It's family oriented. There are a ton of activities for families - Family Fun Fridays, Outdoor Movie Nights, Yoga in the park. And fesitvals - Seafood Fest, BBQ and Bake-Off, Harvest Festival, SummerFest, Pirate Festival, Boat Burning, Pajama Day and Bed Race, etc..
Most people are proud to live here and it shows in the way they keep their homes and their yards. People like to say hi and you always seem to bump into a friendly face when you are out and about.
No matter where you live in Sayville you aren't too far from the Bay - and you can always hop a ferry over to Fire Island if you crave the ocean.
I love it here and there aren't too many other places on Long Island that I'd rather be.

Re: What town do you live in?
Currently in Lindenhurst. Pros - Great commute, fun in the summer with beaches.
Moving to Farmingdale at the end of the month cause we bought a house. We are in more a neighborhood when we move and I'm excited for that. The schools are also better.

Re: What town do you live in?
Levittown.
Danielle and I have lived here for 5 years and we love it. The people go out of their way here. My neighbors are the best. Everyone does things for each other, like bringing in your garbage cans, shoveling, etc....We love it so much here that we are dormering our house.
The schools are excellent, and everything is so close by including the seaford oyster bay, southern state parkway, meadow brook and wantagh parkway.
Danielle grew up in N bellmore a few blocks from where Jax430 lives....It is a very nice area.
I grew up in Lynbrook....I prefer levittown to it. Scott

Massapequa Park. I love where I live, we can walk into town and to the train, there are tons of stores around us, and I am close to highways. I had lived in Dutchess County for 7 years and the Bronx for 18, and though a big change it's great. Plus who can forget the beaches, no more driving an hour,Tobay is such a nice beach!!

Seaford
I was raised here (DH is from Massapequa Park) and we like it here. We have good schools, close to shopping, nice parks and close to major parkways and the LIRR.
When we were looking at houses we were looking at Merrick-Bellmore-Wantagh-Seaford-Massapequa and Massapequa Park.

Re: What town do you live in?
DH and I just bought in East Islip. So far (it's been about 2 months) we LOVE it. It's a nice neighborhood with a great school district.
We love that we have a huge backyard. Everyone we've met whether it's our neighbors or random people in CVS or Stop & Shop has been so nice. It's definitely got a small town feel to it.
