Rice cereal - should I have him try it?
We have done oatmeal and barley so far. He broke out a little on his cheeks and chin when we did the oatmeal, but I strongly feel that it was a coincidence - he was in his carseat for long periods of time when we did the oatmeal and I think his face got irritated from the drool, the cold, and his jacket rubbing his cheeks and chin. I'm going to try the oatmeal again tonight and see how he does.
When he was just a few weeks old, we had him on Enfamil AR (the formula had added rice starch built in) and his face was always breaking out after his bottles. Should I hold off on giving him rice cereal? The doc said to hold off, but I'm itching to try it 
I know - wait on it, right?  Slap some sense into me and tell me to listen to the doctor.

There is no reason he needs to have rice cereal as long as the other ones are iron fortified. IMO, the other ones have more flavor anyway! I say skip it

We never did rice with Mason. Ped said you don't have to. We give him oatmeal, fruits and veggies.

We skipped rice due to constipation issues and went straight to oatmeal.
If your ped says to wait, then wait. There really isn't any need for the rice right now anyway if he's eating other cereals.

I'd skip it too ... I think I gave it to Ann 2-3 times but she didn't seem interested so next time I started with oatmeal and never went back to rice.
