Amber's bugging me for pierced ears...any input welcome.

Amber's BFF has pierced earrings and now she seems fixated on getting them. We've been back and forth on this issue a few times over the last few months (she wants them then she doesn't). At 5 1/2 do you think I should wait? I have no problem letting her get them, if she really wants them. I'm just afraid we'll get there, get one done and she'll freak outChat Icon

Let her get them. If she hates them, take them out. Or take her and let her watch how it is done, and then let her decide if she wants them.

You can take her to a place where they do both ears at the same time, I would ask around Chat Icon

Let her get them. A lot of places do both ears at the same time so she won't freak out after only one ear is done.

I've always said I am waiting for DD to ask me, so if she did, I would take her. If she decides at the last minute she doesn't want them, that's ok. I don't think she would regret them after the fact. I think the suggestion to get both ears done at the same time is a good one.

My oldest DD asked for them when she was 5. She can be the biggest baby about things, she'll scream bloody murder over a splinter but she barely cried while getting her ears pierced. She helped take care of them, twisted them, etc.

My sister took my niece to claire's in the mall and they did them both at the same time. I say let her have them and if she doesn't take care of them or it's not going good you can always take them out and they will heal.

My niece cried for a few seconds and then she was fine.

My DD wanted a 2nd piercing and I warned her it will hurt. I took her to Claires to see how it's done and she's changed her mind.

Well, we got them done. We went to Piercing Pagoda and she was a little trooper. They did them one at a time and she did not cry. I was so proud! Afterwards, we went to the Disney store and she got herself a stuffed Dalmation. That seemed to ease the painChat Icon
