Sophistication

Ok..so Ive been wandering what's everyones 2c on what this means. I tend to always feel sloppy even when Im not. I dont wear a suit because I dont work in an office per se. I do childcare so jeans and sweater. Scrub top over it. I make sure to shop at marshalls or burlington, tjmaxx and buy 'nice' things.

Going to classes I wear the same things.

Im gona be doing nursing soon (I know no sophistication in that) rite?...so how do I look sophisticated going to work, so I can feel sophisticated instead of frumpy??

Does this even make sense Chat Icon Chat Icon

Hmmm...I'd go with this word: Polished.

Polished nails. Not polish, per se, but clean, same length, and not long.

Polished hair (this is my area of need)-if it's a ponytail, it's smooth. A blow out.

Makeup-neutral. Mascara, some foundation, lips have some color.

Maybe some nice earrings. Diamond studs, small gold hoops.

Hmmm....I think just showing that you care. Looking good requires time, and it usually shows when you spend time on your appearance. Even if you can't dress to the nines for your job, you can still look "put together". I would say always be "groomed"...some people to me just look sloppy...and there's nothing sophisticated about that.

Re: Sophistication

I find for me that just a little liner and color to my cheeks and lips goes a LONG way.

I also find that making sure things fit nicely helps. If you are wearing scrubs, make sure they are not too big, even though it is very comfy.

Being a SAHM, this was my struggle. I finally got a good hair cut and it makes a huge difference. My hair takes 20 minutes and make up in 10 and I feel I look put together.
I was a having a hard time with my hair for while and it showed because I just couldn't be bothered with it.
Accessories seem to go a long way too.
My SIL has a simple hair cut (chin length bob), very little makeup but always has a necklace of some sort on, usually costume to go with her outfits. These days her outfits are a strech cami with a chunky cardigan over it because she is 32 weeks pregnant, but she still looks great.

Re: Sophistication

ITA that "polished" is the right word.

I think that for me to feel this way I do the following :

Hair done (for me that means shower and blowdry in the morning)

Nails neat

eyebrows shaped

Some makeup

Earrings

wedding ring

watch

necklace
