Do I pay the mortgage or not?
My mortgage payment is due 1/1/10 but we are in the process of refinancing and are due to close next week so I don't know what to do? Don't want to have to make a payment and then make another one 2 weeks later but I also don't want to be late on a payment either. Any suggestions?

Who do you have your mortgage with? Mine is with Citibank & I pay it at a branch a few days before it's due. If you have it with a bank with a local branch maybe you can wait a few days and if it looks like you won't close before the due date pay it at the branch.

Usually you have until the 15th of the month to pay your Mortgage without penalty, BUT check with your bank or broker because depending on when you close, they make sure that your payments are up to date.
Also remember, you wont have to pay in 2 weeks again, you skip a month before the new Mortgage begins.
If there is any money left over from your current Mortgage, they will refund you as well as any excess escrow in your account.

Pay it.
We just refinanced over the summer. We had 3 appointments telling us we were going to close before we actually did.
We ended up making the payment & closed 2 days after...even though the orignal appointment was 4 days before that.
They sent us a refund check a couple of weeks later.
