If hes drinking Johnny Blue hes a single malt scotch drinker, like my wonderful DH hahah
DH LOVESSSSSSSS his Macallan 18 (around $140 a bottle). He regularly drinks Chivas tho...they also make an 18 year version.

DH LOVESSSSSSSS his Macallan 18 (around $140 a bottle). He regularly drinks Chivas tho...they also make an 18 year version.
DH is a single malt scotch drinker as well. Macallan is among his favorites. I bought him the 18 year as a gift. He also likes Balvenie 12 year and Bowmore Islay. At least those are the ones he has in the house.
ETA: He likes Macallan 30 year as well, but we can't afford the bottle!

Any 25-30 or more year old Scotch with a Scottish name-Glenfiddich etc. McCallan 30 yr is about $7-800

For a more affordable, but very good scotch, try Oban 14 yr. My DH likes this in the "reasonable" category.
Outside of that-- go for the Macallan 25.

Definitely Balvenie My father is an avid scotch drinker and when he goes out for a special night that's what he drinks! I would go for the 21 year, I think the 30 year is close to $700

If its an Irish Whiskey your looking for 18 year old Jameson is AWESOME and its about $95/bottle.
If your looking for soemthing cheaper- Single Barrel Jack is always good (Tennessee Whiskey) and they make special edition Jack Daniels that come in a cool case and everything for about $170.

Not sure what you consider expensive and how much you're looking to spend, but here goes:
Oban 14 year is very good. Generally ~$50/bottle.
Glenlivet 15 year (French Oak Reserve) is another favorite, at around $40/bottle.
2 of my favorites are Johnnie Walker Gold Label, which is anywhere from $60-$75/bottle, depending on where you go and Johnnie Walker Green Label, which is around $50. And it's kind of hard to find, but if you do find it, Johnnie Walker Swing is very nice, too, at about $60/bottle.
A couple of years ago, Kelly got me Dewar's Signature, which goes for about $200/bottle. Haven't opened it yet, as it deserves a sepcial occasion! But it gets high marks.
