People who use facebook....questions for you?
If you compose a message to someone......is that message private or does it go on the wall? Also, does the messag stay in a sent history box like email does? If so can you delete it out of history after you've sent it?

If done properly, the message will only go to them. It will be stored in your "sent" items similar to email.

if you are talking about "send ..... message " yes it's private , goes into inbox and yes you can delete the "sent" mail.

Does the person that is receiving the message get some sort of notification or they just have toknow to check the mail part of their account? TY

if they have, then the only way they will see they have a message in their inbox is that a 1 will appear in a blue circle at the top on the left side of the page where it says inbox

I was going to say the same.
I have this function disabled because there were waay too many emails! I just check when I sign on FB.
