CIO moms- need advice, LONG

DS was 5 months last week. and although i never thought I could be the mom who would CIO, I am losing my mind. on a GOOD night, he will be up every 2 hours. so far tonight- bed at 7. up fussing at 8:30- paci back in. 9:30- paci. 10:30- i nursed. 12:30-paci. you get it.
so- I need advice. I read weissbluthmbtw.
he goes to sleep with a paci only. doesn't rock to sleep, doesnt nurse to sleep. I normally nurse him twice overnight- around 10:30-11 and 4/5. unless he is really upset at one of the other wakings. all the other times, paci.
he has reflux, but is on zantac and eating ok now. btw, till last week, he was still only sleeping in the swing.
the issues, as i see them
1. the paci.
2. sometimes- i leave him in my bed at 4/5 am feed- thsi is my bad, i wnat ot stop.
I NEED SLEEP. Dh wprks overnights half the time, it is all on me.
oh, we jsut started solids, but hes nto that into it.
my #1 sttn on her own by 12 weeks, so i am kind of clueless.
i think i am at hte point where i am ready to CIO. would you keep the feeds? i am leanign towards keeping, even weissbluth says some kids may need to eat 2x up to 9 months.
best way to do this? advice? tips?
oh, adding- i have let him cry for 5-10 minutes, he jsut gets hysterical.

i dont know how long your DS has been on zantac, but i know when i put my DS on it, this was when he was about 2-3 months old, he was awake constantly. so i took him off of it and he started to STTN again.

both my kids STTN, my DD since the day she came home and my DS at about 8-10 weeks.

my DS also slept in his swing until he was about 7 months old.

good luck and maybe switch his meds or take him off of them completely (thats what we did)

Are you returning the paci to him everytime it falls out? If so, don't do that. DS will sometimes fall asleep with the paci but if it falls out it falls out. I would return him to his crib for each sleep time so it's consistant.

Basicly what I do is when he wakes up at night and fusses I wait and watch and see if he will go right back to sleep after a few minutes. If he starts to cry I tend to him, but I don't rush to his side. BTW, this is what our pediatrician had recommended we do. It's ok to cry...although it's heartbreaking to momma. It may take a few nights of sleeplessness to make it work, but it'll be to your benefit in the long run. Just make sure basic needs are met...DC is not hungry or wet/dirty. Once those needs are met they are ok to cry a little. Put a time limit on it and if they are still crying go in give a reassuring pat and leave. DS is aleady waking up only 1x during the night. He gets changed and fed and goes back to sleep. The main thing is continue to be consistant.
