Re: LYNBROOK 101
we just moved from east rockaway, sd 20. it bordered lynbrook & hewlett. it is a beautiful neighborhood, quiet streets, large properties and great sd. high taxes though. and the house prices in this little area are higher than we could afford as well. it was hard to leave.

Re: LYNBROOK 101
Another Lynbrook fam here! We have been here for about 4 years... We are SD #20 (that is the only area of Lynbrook that we really considered) and LOVE LOVE LOVE our area. We are close to the Westwood area (not sure what the actual street cut-offs are) and can walk to the elementary and middle school from our house. We are only about a block off Merrick Road which was an initial concern for us but we really do not have a traffic flow on our block... Taxes are a bit high but not much different than other areas we were considering... Feel free to FM with any questions!! GOOD LUCK to you and DH!!

Re: LYNBROOK 101
you want lynbrook with lynbrook (20 is better but all are good) or east rockaway schools. HTH Oceanside & rockville center schools are great as well.

DH is all over the place, we are going to open houses tomorrow. Let's see if he still likes the area.

I grew up in the same area, a few blocks from westwood, walkable to West End and North Middle. My parents still live there and my mom actually works at West End. Growing up there was great, the schools were good and theres lots to do and an easy commute to NYC. Taxes do suck, but you pay the price for being so close to the city. My parents also pay around 12K for taxes. The south side of town is also really nice, my aunt uncle and cousins live near Marion Street School. My cousins are in Lynbrook HS right now, my aunt says the HS isn't as good as it used to be. Feel free to FM with any particular questions!
