Do you freeze your homemade babyfood? How long can it stay in the freezer for?
I borrowed my friends Beaba babycooker so making a ton of stuff this weekend since we are going to be snowed in.
So far I made carrots, apples, squash!!!

...I tried it then when I went to defrost the food it looked so gross like a sponge I still made the food but I would not freeze it..I would use it for a few days then I would toss whatever I did not use I know I wasted some..but for me I just did not like how the food defrosted!

Re: Freezing Homemade babyfood??
After you freeze it in whatever trays or containers you are using, just pop the cubes into ziplock freezer bags and label.
check out the wholesomebabyfood.com website for expiration dates. I *believe* it's some time like 6 weeks in the freezer (don't quote me on that)

I freeze it but putting it in ziploc bags. I double bag them. The veggies seem to last a while. I made some last month and DS has been eating them this past month. Have fun!

Re: Freezing Homemade babyfood??
I always did & still do freeze his food.
I froze veggies & fruits & would use them up mostly between 2-3 months but am sure some would have lasted longer.
As an infant whatever I made I froze in ice cube trays......usually using 1 cube per serving and then 2 or more as he got bigger.
Now I still freeze a few things.....I make a HUGE batch of creamed spinach for him & put it small zip lock sandwich bags, squeeze out the air & freeze it.
BIG fan of making & freezing the baby food!

Re: Freezing Homemade babyfood??
Of course you can freeze it. I put it in ice cube trays and then pop it out and put in ziploc bags. Each cube is about 1 oz.. half a jar of baby food from the store.
You can try a bag of frozen peas, corn, pears, mango, green beans, papaya, spinich, brussel sprouts... I put garlic in the spinach and brussel sprouts, cinnamon in the apples and pears and basil in the carrots. I read somewhere that there is no reason why babies need to wait until 8 months to try most spices and there is a thought that by introducing baby to spices early that they will need less bad things like sugar and salt to flavor their food later. Worth a try. I asked the doctor and he said he had no problem with using those "mild" spices.

Same here. I had a lot of fun making baby food. I just started freezing leftover meals for table food. Stew, lentil soup, chicken soup.
I started using herbs and mild spices right away. Chloe's favorite is lentils with cardamom and pears with cinnamon.
To defrost, I would either take out a few cubes and put them in the fridge the night before or if I needed it in a pinch, I put 2 cubes in a small glass jar and put them in the beabecook on steam for a few minutes.

Re: Freezing Homemade babyfood??
I made batches of foods in a regular ice cube tray and then put them into ziplock bags. Labels with what the food was and the date to use by went on each bag. I would try to use them within 3 months and then make new batches as I ran out. I don't have as much freezer room as I did before so I just make smaller batches of food now
