Facebook questions and how not to have things posted publicly question...
How on earth do you not publicly have on the site when people look you up what you are a fan of and how do you hide your friends on the public search? I am so confused since they changed it. TIA! Step by step instructions please.

You have to go to the privacy settings (located on the top right hand side of the screen).
Click on Profile Information and Contact and set everything to Only Friends.
Click on Search - uncheck allow public searches.

There have been misleading rumors recently about Facebook indexing all your information on Google. This is not true. Facebook created public search listings in 2007 to enable people to search for your name and see a link to your Facebook profile. They will still only see a basic set of information.
and it states...
Public Search Results
This setting only allows search engines to access your publicly available information and any information you set to Everyone. This does not include anything you've shared with just your friends or friends of friends
it even allows you to view a preview of what people would see on google. for me it was just my profile pic.

I use to have it set so nobody was able to find my profile.
I don't like that that is no longer an option.
