buissness law people- A question
I did some contract work for a company and they claim they mailed me the payment check through one of those third party online accounting companies.
Well they said I should have received it on 11/20 and I still haven't gotten it.
They say the only way they will re-issue me another check is to put a stop payment on it and send out another one but I take teh $25 bank fee.....
Tell me I'm wrong but this does not sound fair.
WHat recourse do I have???

doesn't... its a very simple contract. You know what I do for a living so its very basic. Time and place and what I am doing and payment

Not a lawyer here but I'd say if it isn't spelled out in the contract, they have to abide by the contract to pay you x dollars for x work. No deductions.
I'd email them back & tell them that per your contract the terms are unacceptable & you require full payment.

thanks..... that is probably what I'm going to have to do. Its unfortunate because it probably will agrevate the person which means no more work from them....

Maria, they cannot charge you the stop payment fee. It is not in the contract. They have to pay you. If anything, if there is a late payment agreement, you can get that!

if its going to cost you $25 to get additional business- you may want to just take the deduction- I know its not fair but maybe do that or offer them an alternative- see if they will split it with you? If you stand to make a lot more money for them, it may not be worth it to aggravate the person.
