Re: Man had to choose to save wife or child
That is so sad. I just don't understand why she went after the kids? I guess it really doesn't matter. I would want Joe to save our child before he saved me, but I guess if that wasn't possible I would understand him saving me. I sounds like the father thought there was just no hope to save the son so instead of losing them both he chose to save one of them. My only thing is I don't know if I could live with my self. I would rather die trying to save my child then live knowing I didn't do anything.

How horrible. I will keep them in my prayers.
I will be honest.. I love my husband dearly.. but I would die trying to save my child. And my husband would have it no other way.
I agree.
and I am sure my husband would as well.
my one job on this earth since getting pregnant is to protect my son. to do everything in my power to keep him out of harms way. his trust in me is all consuming. and I would never ever let him down without the fight of my life. ever. EVER.
it is unfathomable to me that my child would die like that...and that I had the chance to save him but I didn't.

Re: Man had to choose to save wife or child
It said they were very religious...maybe that played a role. i remember a coworker told me that a spouse should always save the spouse, b/c you can make more children. I know that is very harsh way of saying it, but that's how i remember it. She was very religious.
In the story - if the wife was out of the car and just yelling for help, you go to the person still in the car...especially since he still saw the taillights.
I'm sure fear and adrenaline did somehting to his system and mind.

I read this yesterday, so sad. The article I read didn't say she was chasing after some kids. Just goes to show you, sometimes, you should just let things go. I agree

I agree and looking at it the other way-I woudl want my husband to save my children before saving me.
