Dumb questions but...
Where do you plug in your outside lights for Christmas. I have never put lights up outside but I really want to but I have no idea where to plug them in. I don't have an outlet on the front of the house.

We have an outdoor plug by the patio on the side of the house and we run our lights off that.

DH is in the process of installing outside electric outlets on either side of the house. Last year (our first yr in the house) we had to run an extension cord from the garage, but it worked, but i didnt like all the cords all around

I realize it doesn't help you, but our contractor ran an outlet outside specifically for outdoor lights. It's handled by a light switch inside, so we can turn on and off the the lights without stepping outside...

they sell an adapter that you can screw into your outdoor lighting fixture that allows you to plug them in...no idea what it's called but should be able to get it at any hardware store
ETA: i run an outdoor extension cord from the back of my house to the front (my parents used the thing i mentioned before they outlets installed)

we run an extension cord out our kitchen window, my parents always ran it out the LR window.
With that send, we are 2nd floor unit of a co-op so I have no qualms about my window being unlocked and cracked a smidge for the cord.
My parents LR was 1st floor, front of house, but those were different times.

Thank you so much for your replies! I do have an outlet outside in the back of the house but I didn't think that everyone just ran extension cords, but it seems that way.
Now for my next dumb question. HOw do you hang the lights on the gutters?

They make gutter clips. All different types,... you can check them out in Target, Lowes, HD or anywhere else they sell lights.
