"Wish List" Yay or Nay?

I just found out about making a "wish list" on BRU and TRU. I think it is a great idea!!!! I hate guessing what to give kids for xmas or their bdays. The wish list makes it soooo much easier in my opinion. However, do you girls think some people might think its tacky or rude to be making a wish list? I don't want to offend anyone if I decide to put it in DS's bday invites. I just think it would be easier for people. My relatives are already asking what to get him so I thought this would be a good idea. What are your thoughts?

I would never put it in an invitation. I find that most people will verbally ask what DS needs, and at that point you can mention that you made a wish list if they're looking for suggestions.

good idea...I feel a little funny doing it too, but I would totally love it if it came in an invitation for me....I'm just a really straight forward person...

Re: "Wish List" Yay or Nay?

I was thinking of doing this, but decied against it, most of the time ppl ask and honestly whatever ppl get is fine, I'll just exchange/return anything that DD won't need or use...

We did it for both DC for their b-day and for x-mas. I didnt put it on the invites but when people asked I told them about it. It has worked out great so far.
Returns are really tough at a lot of stores without receipts so for us it eliminates doubles/triples of the same thing. Chat Icon

Same.

I ASKED my good friend what her son would want/need for Christmas and she said she could send me a link to something he asked for on his "wish list"...which I found to be helpful. I'd rather get him something he wants. Unless asked about it, I wouldn't say anything.

I have one on Amazon for DS for myself. WHen someone asks me what he wants/needs, I check it and tell them.

I only use it for my own organizational purposesChat Icon

Re: "Wish List" Yay or Nay?

Ok, I used to be ANTI wishlist, but honestly, with the way my family harasses me around the holidays and her bday, I end up sending out a ton of different emails with links to like twelve different things in all sorts of price points. This would make my life so much easier! But it'll have to wait for her birthday because I've already sent the bajillion emails for Christmas.
But I would only limit it to family, never to anyone attending a bday party for her.

Re: "Wish List" Yay or Nay?

I made one yesterday for DD on the TRU website. So many people are asking what to get her and I hate telling them specific things so I figured I'd let them choose off the wish list or at least get an idea of what she likes.

Re: "Wish List" Yay or Nay?

I just typed one up on Word and a few people asked for it already. I am not offering it or telling anyone about it. But, if they ask, I am fowarding it to them.

Re: "Wish List" Yay or Nay?

I have 4 nephews and 2 nieces ranging in age from NB-12. I was going to ask if we could do wish lists this year, but then I just figured I would ask them what was wanted/needed and they told me. I am already done Christmas shopping. Now all I have to do is plan DD's 1st b-day party for the 26th. Chat Icon

Re: "Wish List" Yay or Nay?

I made one for DS since he is a November birthday and Christmas is coming.

I only plan on giving out the info if asked. I do think it's tacky to put it in an invitation, but helpful if someone actually asks what she/he should get.

I made one at TRU for DS. Between the holiday and his first birthday everyone has been asking me. I figured I would put things at all different price points so that I didn't have to make anyone feel uncomfortable.
