In first tri...am I not supposed to lift??

I am 10W1D

I mentioned to FIL that I took out 6 big bags of garbage the AM (that had pieces sheetrock in them), and he right away said..."You're not supposed to lift!" and I just said..."I can lift as long as I'm not straining myself"....and then he just said that when you strain yourself it's too late.

I was a little ticked off by this, but it DID get me thinking. How much is too much to lift in the first tri? I was under the impression that lifting is more of a concern later on. What do you think??

UPDATE: I just found THIS online...made me feel much better.

Aww, I wouldn't get ticked off at FIL about that..that was sweet of him to think of you! lol I definitely would not lift....stretching your abdomen or twisting it in a way that you can strain yourself is not good, especially in the 1st trimester.

Yeah, I guess so....Do you think it is bad that I did that by myself?? Now I am worried . I mean, I feel alright, but I do think I felt it a little bit in my abdomen. Could I have hurt the baby???

I believe the recommendation is to not lift anything heavier than 25 lbs.

Just take it easy, lay down and relax.
