2x a year for property and 2x a year for school. They are both at different times, check mynassuaproperty

Taxes are paid in halves in Nassau so you actually pay 4 times a year.

School (bill is issued 10/1):
1st 1/2 due no later than 11/10
2nd 1/2 due no later than 5/10

General (bill is issued 1/1)
1st 1/2 due no later than 2/10
2nd 1/2 due no later than 8/10

If you live in an incorporated village, you will pay village taxes as well. Most villages only bill once a year and most are in the summer months.

just figuring out how much escrowing in taxes will be. so if i close in december (hopefully the beginning) i will layout a ton of money, right to cover the january taxes?

Actually, not really b/c the county taxes aren't bad, it's the school taxes that are outrageous! so i will have a couple of months to escrow that.....

Yup - you'll have to basically pay the entire first half general at closing. They'll escrow the rest.

They'll do an adjustment at closing for the 1st half school taxes that the former owner paid.

It's crazy.

Depending on the mortgage company, they may make you escrow the entire first year + some.
