At least once a day for the past week or so the cable on the modem goes out, then it wont reset and I have to unplug everything and replug to get it to reset. I have no idea why the cable keeps going out.....anyone else having this happen?

UGH really? It never occurred to me that it could be an issue with the modem itself! I hate cablevision!

i 'hated' them b/c i had no option of going to verizon when i lived in lindenhurst. in my next house, verizon isn't available, so i am sure i will hate them again.

i hate being "stuck" with one company... same thing with lipa.

yes, i had to replace my modem twice in five years, i suppose it isn't that bad...

good luck!

hey- just a silly question... are you on a wireless computer that has a microwave in the middle of where your imaginary connection would be?

i knew that was going to sound funny... in lindy, my den was on the other end of the house from my modem... so... when i ran my microwave, the waves that it threw out, interrupted the waves from my computer to my modem so i would always lose my connection. turning off the mircowave would make my wireless connection come back on. sometimes b/c of this i had to turn off my modem and reboot it...

haha.

Re: Those with optimum, have you had this problem lately

We've periodically had a problem with the cable TV going out for exactly ten minutes at 2 minutes before Noon and 2 minutes befor 7 PM. After lots of run around we finally got them to send a technician out at the time it was happening. He determined there was some sort of "leak" in the hook up in the basement and he fixed the lines. He said it was picking up interference from something in the neighborhood at those times. It was good for awhile but recently started happening again. Somehow we realized that it was related to our DVD player! Now, if it happens, we just turn the DVD player on, then off again and the TV is back on again.

Happens to us all the time. Usually when I am on the phone Chat Icon or trying to work from home online.

We know it's our modem, we just haven't gone down and gotten a new one.

It could be the phone that's interfering. Our old cordless would cause the wireless modem to disconnect and stay disconnected if you answered a call or were on the phone. As soon as you hung up you could connect again. We replaced the phone and no more problems.
