hemming jeans with original bottoms
I always have to hem my jeans but I hate the straight look on the bottom afterwards. A few years ago someone introduced me to a seamstress who hemmed the jeans and put the original bottoms back on. I know several people that get this done now. But the lady I use is too far away now. Can anyone reccommend a tailor/seamstress in the east meadow area that does this?
TIA!

I think most places do this now. I would just go to your usual place and ask if they do that... it might cost a little more, but it's so worth it.
Good luck!

I think someone on here had said the dry cleaners/tailor on the lower level of Roosevelt Field mall do this. I haven't tried them myself so I can't vouch for them.

I have never encountered anyone that wouldn't do it that way
just ask - it's pretty common now

I use them and they are great! What's best is they usually get it done in the time you are at the mall- so you can drop off the pants, and an hour and a half later you can pick them up! With the exception of really busy times, like during the holiday season, they will usually have it done in a few hours!
They do a plain hem for $8 and the original hem for $20
Since I'm 5', I am there all the time when I get new pants!

I just do mine at my regular dry cleaner but I used to go to someone in Hicksville on 107 when I worked around there. I can not remember the name of the place but if you are heading south towards Sunrise it;s on the left right after Hempstead tpke and pretty close to a pizza place.

Thanks - I may try them next time. I had it done once at the cleaner I usually used and it shredded where she sewed it together. I don't know if it was because the material was a stretch jean....
