Swine Flu related: Has anyone heard this?
I dont know if its a warning or PSA but I think its worth sharing just in case..
My father called me about the swine flu shot. I actually don’t believe he knows our opinion one way or the other, never came up.
So my Dad served in the Navy. We were in Gitmo Bay in 1976. He went to the VA recently and found out they aren’t giving any vaccinations to older folks because they have been vaccinated already? Cause he got the swine flu vaccination back in 1976?!?!
I sort of think this is BS they are pouring into my dad. He has respiratory issues. He would have taken the shot but they said no need???
Correct me if I’m wrong but don’t you need this vaccinate yearly? He said that the way they created the old Swine Flu vaccination changes the story. That there’s no need for another shot.
Has anyone heard this?
On a side note, I think this is BS for the basic yearly need reason but also because it hardly makes them immune. Both my brother and I because we were on base at the same time and due to Government requirements at the time (all those who served were required to take the swine flu vaccination) and that we weren’t on American main land, we both got the shot too. I know i was over vaccinated for several things. When I was old enough to understand they made it clear I literally had to skip vaccinations for school cause I carried the antibodies. I skipped boosters left and right. I got a shot in 3rd grade and not again until i was 25 and that was only for mumps. My blood still carries antibodies for "stuff".
So if it were true – how did my brother get it?
I dunno I think its malarkey and he should get the shot if its necessary.
What do you think?
Oh and this parenting cause I sorta parent my father! LOL

I saw on the news that it is a different shot than was administered back then. He should def be "eligible" to receive it if he wants it.

From the CDC's site: http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/public/vaccination_qa_pub.htm Do those that have been previously vaccinated against the 1976 swine influenza need to get vaccinated against the 2009 H1N1 influenza?
The 1976 swine flu virus and the 2009 H1N1 virus are different enough that it's unlikely a person vaccinated in 1976 will have full protection from the 2009 H1N1. People vaccinated in 1976 should still be given the 2009 H1N1 vaccine.

I've posted about this before. There was a swine flu outbreak at Fort Dix in the late 70's and many people were vaccinated, not sure if it was military wide though. But many people developed MS and other neurological diseases that later were attributed to the vaccine. I pray they dont make the same mistake twice

Re: Swine Flu related: Has anyone heard this?
From what I understand it was a different swine flu and a very different shot. Yes there were problems with the original vaccine but it apparently was very different from the one that they have now - so I'm not sure about the immunities.
The reason that the swine flu is hitting younger people harder than older is that older people have had some immunities to variations of the swine flu which I guess is helping them with this version.
I could be totally wrong but that was what I believe my medical friends were saying a few weeks ago.
I would ask a doctor about that b.c they would have the best information. The things one generally finds on google tend not to be very accurate.
