Those that know what they are doing when decorating, come on in!

We are at a loss when it comes to what to do with our front room.Chat Icon We have been here for 1.5 years and it has been a couple of things already, but none fit right - lastly a small dining room (we have since moved the table to the kitchen though). It is the front room as soon as you walk in from the door and the stairs are there as well.

The pictures are in my front room album.

We need suggestions or, if you have pictures, inspiration!!! Any help is greatly appreciated.

ETA: where do you look for ideas - websites, stores, etc.??

i would make room and cozy sitting room. can't tell from the pics how big the room is but if large enough i would add;
- a loveseat and 2 comfy chairs
- small coffee table and an end table
- table lamp and floor lamp
- console table, low bookcase or bench with a mirror above on the stairwell wall

I agree, you can do a sitting room or even maybe put the computer in that room?

Can you show me how the room is laid out? Are the stairs to the right when you walk in and the other part is to the left?

Before we can tell you what to do with it, need to know how the space is laid out right?

I'm also thinking maybe 2 reading chairs with a little table in the middle?

Thanks - I am definitely thinking a sitting room would work.
Kittygags - when you walk in through the front door the table with the sconces above it are straight ahead of you. I love the first chair you posted. We have a chaise in there right now, and it is too big, so we need smaller furniture. Maybe 2-3 chairs (would 3 look strange) and a table or a bookshelf? I also love the antique style loveseats.

I would try to set that space up as a sitting/reading/game room. I would try 2 chairs and a table that converts to a larger size (36 - 48) games. You could always add folding chairs or if you have room a bench or ottomans for extra seating.
