Is this appropriate for work?
Our office dress code is business casual. Khaki capris in the summer, black dress pants with cotton t-shirts/long sleeved shirts is what I wear in the winter, so my question is, can I get away with wearing leggings to work with a cotton dress or even a sweater dress? I debated this all last fall/winter! Help!

Re: Is this appropriate for work?
IMO a sweater dress with leggings/tights and knee-high boots is dressier than black pants and a cotton top...so I would day yes, it's totally appropriate!

I agree, especially if you pair it with leather boots, whether they are heals or riding.

Re: Is this appropriate for work?
I wear sweater dresses and tights ALL the time here. To me it's dressier than the plain old pants and shirt. So I say yes!!

Re: Is this appropriate for work?
My first instinct was no when you said "business casual" but my definition also wouldn't include the cotton t-shirts you mentioned. If you can get away with those, you can totally get away with a sweater dress and leggings.

Re: Is this appropriate for work?
I used to work in a corp. office. Business casual DID NOT include leggings. Unless you use them as tights with a dress to the knee level. Nothing shorter.
A t-shirt was not considered business casual either. The shirt had to have a colar.

See I came from the corporate world and that was our definition there too, but my new office doesnt have anything written in the employee handbook on a definition of business casual. We are a smaller office and I just kinda came really dressed up the first week, saw what the other girls were wearing, and wore what they were wearing.
None of them wear leggings though. One girl thinks it will be ok, but coming from corporate world it feels strange somehow to me.

Not sure about leggings but I think a sweater dress and tights would be fine.
