Save the Dates- how early is too early?
I want to have a little party for DH's birthday in April. Most of his friends have kids and are not local, so coordinating will need to be done ahead of time obviously. Is it too early to send out a save-the-date email? I'd like to give them as much notice as possible, but do people really plan now for April? Not sure what to do.

Maybe wait until January when the chaos of the holidays are over? I am not sure

I agree.. wait until January.
If i got something now for April i would probably forget about it since it was so far away (unless it was something that had to be acted on right away, like buying tickets or booking travel now) but i think if you send a save the date in January, that still gives people 4 months to make arrangements.
