Oil Companies
We are looking to find a new oil company and we dont know who to use.
Who do you use for oil and do you have a service contract? If you have a service contract how much do you pay for it?
Thanks

Re: Oil Companies
I have a contract with Heat USA using General Utilities for my service.
I pay below rate-lock market for my oil, and I get a free service contract.
I used to have Slomins, but I am getting a much better deal on Oil and on the Contract using HEAT.

see the previous home owner used HEAT USA and we used them also when we first bought the house. who wants to have to bother with that in January so we just stuck with what they had. We wound up not using them anymore because when we wanted to switch from the oil company they had us with the price was out of control so we canceled. glad at least one person i asked about them has had a good experience.
That's interesting because I had a fantastic experience using them for 11 months. I think I paid like $2.07, $2.13, and $2.27 a gallon. Free service contract. Every time I needed service they were there within a few hours.
What do you mean "who wants to bother?". My service contract with General was no different than my contract with Slomins that I PAID for. I don't even need to call Heat. I call the oil company directly.
I was quite surprised with their service (and I am not an easy one to please). I will definitely be using them again at my new house.
Oh and I got a $50 oil credit too for my MIL referring us. So they gave me money instead of me giving them money.
I called Petro for a quote. The price they were asking for oil was INSANELY high. And then I had to pay for the service contract? No way. I guarantee if I call them now for a lock in rate quote, it will be over $2.50 a gallon, and it won't even be a fixed rate.
I would never sign with a fluctuating "ceiling" deal because they pretty much can charge you whatever you want up to their ceiling. With Heat I know I am getting a good deal because it's cheaper than what the average person with a rate lock typically pays.
For the hundreds extra they wanted, i'll wait an extra hour on Christmas Eve for service. I am not even singling out Petro. Slomins was the same (although they were cheaper than Petro).

Renewed with Petro today. $159 for the premiere service contract, they have other less expensive ones but we have an older boiler so we went with the best coverage they offer.
We're on a budget ceiling plan with them and our monthly rate has not gone up in 2 years. The payment for the plan is included in our monthly payment.
We figure we have on average paid a little over $2 a gallon over the last 2 years. We were even able to skip a month due to falling fuel prices. So instead of crediting our account we opted to skip a payment.
You always speak to a person on long island when you call.
They came on Christmas Eve morning to fix my boiler in less time then they said. After that I'm a petro customer for life.
Question if you dont mind Did you have to negociate this price with PETRO? We have been with them for 5 years and they just sent me a service plan bill for $353.90 . It includes our HWH and additional zones. There service is great and for $159.00 I would stick with them but I just can do $353.90.
Whoo Hooo - I just called PETRO and told them I was moving and they lowered the service contract price to $159.99. Kevin - Thanks so much for posting!
