Is this a dumb gift idea for a 5 yr. old?

DH's cousins boys are 3 and 5. They have literally every toy you can think of and I am stumped thinking of ideas for Christmas. They are at that age what one wants, the other wants also.

I was thinking about making personalized cases and filling it with age appropriate art supplies. For the 3 yr. old maybe playdoh, finger paints, sticker books, paint by number books. For the 6 yr. old I was thinking modeling clay, maybe a model car that he can put together and paint, moon sand.

Does this sound dumb? Kind of like "busy buckets" that they can do throughout the winter being DH's cousin just had another baby and has her hands full with 3 boys Chat Icon

I think it's an awesome idea. I did something similar for my cousin a few years back (she was 8 I think). She loved it and started playing with it right away!

Can I just say, as the mom to an 8 year old, we(her and I both) LOVE when we get arts and crafts. They are used WAY more than most toys.

GREAT IDEA!!!

Great idea! I have a 3 and a 5 year old and they spend a lot of time everyday coloring and cutting and glueing, etc. Its keeps them entertained and we go through a lot of supplies! So I think your gift will be a huge hit!
