working moms..if you shower in the AM

where is the baby?

tommy gets up around 630 - 7am then i feed him (takes about 30 minutes). i have to leave my house by 815 to do daycare drop off and work by 9am.

so i'm thinking, should i feed him and then jump in the shower, keep him in the bouncy chair etc..he is mesmerized by yo gabba (and i feel guilty about that but hey, it works...and the bathroom is right next to the TV room)..

or maybe i should get up at 615 and shower then...

i am not a night shower person...i need my morning shower to wake up and feel refreshed for the day.

what do you all do?

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

What time does your DH get up/leave for work?

On daycare days we wake Samantha up at 6:45-:6:50. I've already showered by that time, but still need to dry hair/makeup and get dressed. DH feeds and dresses her while I finish getting ready for work. By the time I'm done, (7:20ish) she has been dressed and fed and we are out the door by 7:30. (I get up around 6:30)

Even on my days off, I get up and showered/dressed before she wakes up at 7:00/7:30.

I put Jason in his HC and roll it to the bathroom, give him some toys and we are set. If he is sleeping, I leave him and go shower.

I *have* to shower in the morning too and do it before she wakes up. If she does wake up while I'm in there or drying my hair, DH will entertain her or rub her back to get her to nod off a little bit longer.

I'm up at the crack of dawn because I need to get her to day care at 6:30 ... Chat Icon

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

DS hangs out in his bouncer (chair thing) if he's up when I'm showering. After I get out he goes from his jumperoo to playmat.

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

DH and I get up around 5:45-6 and get ready. I usually try to get showered, hair/make up done and get dressed before DD gets up (she wakes around 6:30-7).

Then, I'll get her dressed and we'll eat breakfast together.

If she wakes up before I am ready, DH will get her.

When she was smaller and had an irregular wake up time, it was harder to "beat the clock" so we would pass her off as we got ready.

When DH is out of town, I'll usually let her stay in her crib until I am done getting ready as long as she doesn't fuss too much.

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

Wake up around 6:40-50, DH feeds him his bottle while I shower. By the time I'm getting out of the shower, DH is dressing DS. I get ready putting my makeup on and doing my hair while watching DS and DH goes downstairs to eat breakfast.

Once I am dressed and done, I bring DS downstairs where he whines and tries to climb up our legs while we put lunches together.

Then out the door between 7:20-30.

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

I usually take a shower at night after I put Kaydyn to bed...but if I don't I do it when I wake up (after I let the dog out)....We wake Kaydyn up a couple of mins before we leave the house.

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

When Jacen was a baby, we'd put him in his bouncy seat right outside the shower door if he happened to wake up early.

But more often than not, I get up at 6am and get myself ready before he wakes up.

Now that he's 16 months old, if he wakes up early while i have to get ready... he gets to play in my bedroom/bathroom. We have a box of toys in our bedroom and i usually put the tv on (even though he doesn't pay attention to it) for him. I'm quick. It only takes me 20 minutes to get ready in the morning (shower and all).

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

When Ava was a baby she would get up right before I had to take a shower, so I'd give her a bottle and then put her in the bouncy seat in the bathroom with me while I showered.
When she got old enough to hold her own bottle around 8 months, I'd put her in the pack and play with a baby movie on and her bottle and I'd hop in the shower. She stayed in the pnp while I showered for a long time.
Now, at three, I set her up with her breakfast, put on her shows and hop in the shower and dry my hair, do make-up, etc.
I have to shower in the morning, never at night because I don't feel clean in the morning.

I get up at 6, shower, put on my make-up, do my hair, get dressed and start preparing stuff for work, daycare etc. DS usually wakes up at around 6:30-7. I want to be ready by the time he is up. Then I work on getting him ready very slowly bc he is Mr. Grumpy in the morning so I have to be careful not to set him offChat Icon I change him, get him dressed, give him his milk and a little something for breakfast if he takes it (he usually eats breakfast in daycare though). We're out the door usually anywhere between 7:45 and 8am.

Right after I feed her, I put her back in the crib where she watches her mobile

sometimes I get up a little earlier and have DH watch her while I shower quickly

Of course there are some mornings things can go wrong(sleep late, dd is cranky for some reason) which throws things off

Usually I wake up at 6:00 and have to wake him at 7:00.

This morning he woke up at 5:58, so I put him in my bed and he watched Phineas and Ferb while I showered.

I shower before DD gets up. If she's already up, I just put her in her playpen> She's happy being there as long as I leave her with some cartoons.

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

Usually we are all up at 6. I shower and get dressed while DH & DS have breakfast. Then, I go downstairs and finish getting ready while DH showers. I finish getting ready with the bathroom door open and keep an eye on him playing and the TV is usually on. I dress him after I finish getting ready.

When he was smaller, he would be in the bouncy, the newborn to toddler rocker, or the exersaucer while I showered. The current plan was developed once he became mobile.

We leave the house around 7:30-7:45 to go to daycare. I eat breakfast once I get to work.

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

When she was an infant, I got up before she did and got ready. Now, sometimes I get up before her, if not I park her in front of the TV. She usually watches it or she'll come up to the bathroom and bug me.

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

When DD was a baby...she was in the swing right outside the bathroom while I showered. As she got older, it was sitting on the bed watching sesame street while I showered...when she could roll around, it was on the floor so she didn't fall off the bed Chat Icon Now, it's still wandering around in my room and watching TV while I'm in the shower, or I leave her in her crib playing and talking to herself while I shower.

Re: working moms..if you shower in the AM

Now that Mason just started cereal he's sleeping later... he used to get up around 2AM for a feeding (DH did and I slept) and then at 6 AM that I did and DH would sleep through b/c he works later.

Now... he's up at 4 - 4:30 AM, which means he doesn't need his next bottle till 8 AM (already at daycare by then)

I get up at 6 AM, take the dog out, jump in the shower, make-up, dressed then wake up Mason around 6:30 - 6:40 AM, get my lunch together and his bottles (put him in his bouncy to play while I do this) then we're out of the house by 7AM... he's at daycare around 7:30 and I'm at work by 7:45 (enough time to get a coffee b4 I start)
