WWYD: Bridesmaid Dilemna

I am due at the end of June. (I thought I was due around the 23rd, the dr thinks it is closer to the 28th.) I am supposed to be a BM for a close friend's wedding on July 23. I know my friend will say that I should be fully recovered by then. What if the baby is late? The wedding is in Jersey so it's not around the corner from where we live. Do I tell her that I *hope* to be able to do it but it really depends on when the baby is born and how I'm feeling? I feel like such a bad friend.

Re: WWYD: Bridesmaid Dilemna

that is definitely tough.. but if it were me i would have to skip it..
because if you do give birth before that, you would have a newborn right around the time of the wedding.. i know i couldnt go OOT .

I agree. You don't know if you will go late and even if you don't, that soon PP I doubt you will want to travel, let alone with a newborn.

I would step down from being a bridesmaid your friend should understand and respect that if you have the strength you could always go to the wedding and be there for support. bridesmaid duties are alot on a person so being pregnant the extra responsibilities might be a little much for you with the events that happen before the wedding. For instance bridal shower, Bachelorette parties, etc. Good luck I say due whats best for you and yours before you worry about others

You will be at the very least about 3 weeks PP.

It is an overwhelming time. And being a bridesmaid, you will need to be there ALL day.

Assuming that you go naturally, I think you could do it. Though it will be tough. If you wind up having a c-section, that will be difficult.

I think it depends on your personality. Personally, I wouldn't want to go through that. Your boobs will be leaking if you BFing, you will most likely still be bleeding a little, and you will be sleep deprived.

So you need to decide if you can deal with all of that.

i completely agree. i know i wouldn't be able to do it (having BTDT).

i went to a local wedding 5 weeks PP and i was fine, but my boobs were HUGE and painful (forgot my pump) and i was very tired by the end of the night. i can't imagine doing it 3 weeks PP and being in the bridal party!

Re: WWYD: Bridesmaid Dilemna

This is a tough one :(

I am having the same issue but its my SISTER and I am the MOH!! My due date is 16 days before the wedding. All of the other duties I know people will be helping me with, but its the actual wedding I am concerned about. I am going to have a newborn and it is just gonna be so hard. Unfortunately its my sister so it makes it much harder to pull out of, actually that's pretty much not an option. I feel like I am going to be the party pooper on her day Chat Icon but I know I am going to be exhausted and just wanting to go home and see my little munchkin, its just too soon!

It is a really tough spot to be put in but you have to do whats best for you and the baby. I would tell her you are going to try and do the best you can but you don't want her to be upset if you cant make it. I don't think you can know definitely until the time comes.

Re: WWYD: Bridesmaid Dilemna

I would step down. Regardless of if the baby is late or not, with a newborn a month old or less the LAST thing you'll want to be worrying about is being in your friends wedding. And (no offense to brides out there - most of us have been one already!), you know as a bride you want your day to be all about you. I feel that if it were me, my mind would be on the baby the whole time. I just don't think I would be up for it.

Re: WWYD: Bridesmaid Dilemna

I gave birth 9/30 via a c/s and was in a wedding on 10/18 in Boston. We live in NJ. My parents came with us to help DH with DS and DD. It was fine. We all had a great time. There was only one person I would have done this for. If the person getting married does not mean that much to you, then I would ask to just be a guest and play it by ear. For me, if it was not my BFF from college, I would not have been a BM and we would not have gone to the wedding.

Re: WWYD: Bridesmaid Dilemna

We have a wedding in May and I know I won't be going, DH might go but I won't, especially since we'll have a newborn. I just can't imagine actually being in a wedding PP. I would decline if i were you.
