What other areas should we look in?
As you know DH and I are living with folks... it's wearing out it's welcome QUICK!
(we totally appreciate the savings opportunity that they have given us, but, there are some stresses that go along with this venture)
We are looking in Levittown, Wantagh, Seaford, massapequa (and the park).
What other areas should we include in our search? We just added N Bellmore in there too.
We want south shore, SOUTH of Hempstead tnpk, No flood insurance (so, i guess not south of merrick)...
we are looking for an outdated house that we can LIVE IN while making updates / repairs. Mid 300K and lower, if possible.
Please offer your suggestions...
TIA!
ETA: not Suffolk county.. we moved out of there to be closer to our jobs (queens, and western Nassau) and my family...

We live in Levittown, south of Hempsteak tpk, off Gardiners Ave. I've seen a few "for sale" signs around.

Re: What other areas should we look in?
Oh, there's lots out there, but the asking prices are still higher than i thought they'd be when i was selling.
finding the right fixer upper has been our challenge. hence, expanding our search to other areas...
We like alot of the 'as is' houses, but don't have CASH to buy it.

There are quite a few in East Meadow (south of Hempstead Tpke, East of Newbridge, North of North Jerusalem, just west of the Wantagh Pkwy - aka "Parkway section") in that range.
MLS:2198257 - $269k- 4bd ranch-bank owned MLS: 2223774 - $294k - 3 bd ranch- short sale MLS: 2226904 - $339k - 4 bed ranch
If you do a map search you can search the area

Re: What other areas should we look in?
FYI - south of Merrick Road would be hard on your budget, but you wouldn't necessarily need flood insurance.
I lived on the water in Massapequa Park (on a wide canal 2 houses from the Great South Bay) and my folks never had flood insurance. We lived there for 13 years and never had a problem because the elevation was above the water table. We were in a ranch and had a full basement. My parents have since downsized and are still in Massapequa, south of Merrick and they don't have flood insurance there either.
