If you are on the fence about having a third child

Did you save all the clothes from DC#1 and DC#2?

If I was on the fence, I would save them.

Yes. Just in case. Also kept the high chair and the single stroller.

We didn't hold onto stuff like exersaucer, snap n go, double jogger, since I figured that if we did decide to have another there would probably be better stuff out or I wouldn't need something for 2 babies.

Re: If you are on the fence about having a third child

I am currently due with #2 in March. If we decide to have another we are going to wait 3 year or so because my ILs would not be able to watch three little kids.

We live in an apt with not a ton of storage space. I honestly think I'm going to go through all the bins I have and keep a couple of outfits and get rid of everything else after #2 uses it (if they can use it...we don't find out until the 19th if it's a boy or girl)

If I was planning on having another within 1-2 years then I would think more about keeping more stuff.

Re: If you are on the fence about having a third child

I plan to have a corner in my attic for the possibility of #3. But, since I know if there is a #3 it won't be for a few yrs, I would be more selective in what I save. PJs/playclothes will probably get donated and I'll only keep dressier stuff (or things with sentimental value).

Re: If you are on the fence about having a third child

i have 2 girls and on the fence about a third at this point - who knows.

this time around - I saved some of the neutral baby pjs in case i do get pregnant with #3 but donated lots of DD clothes except some cute dresses and outfits that i especially liked.

If we are going for a third - I would want the child to have new clothes.

My 2nd daughter is wearing alot of hand me downs from my 1st - so we were able to save alot of money - there is no way that some outfits are going to survive another round if its another girl.

My clothes is floating around and I don't mind. My SIL has all of DS's stuff that she has lent out to 2 of her friends (I know them so I didn't mind) and it is rotating. DD's stuff is between 2 friends right now and I also don't mind. It is labeled and if I get back great if not, not a big deal either. The stuff I really loved I didn't lend out.

We're currently on the fence, if we do it won't be until DD is in PK b/c both sets of inlaws said 2 is more than they can handle Chat Icon

We've held on to most of DD's things & most of DS's things in totes in the basement.

We are on the fence-waiting until DC #2 is about 6 months to make that decision.

I'm saving everything from DD and DS until we know for sure.

I was on the fence for awhile, but I fell off it last year and haven't looked back! Chat Icon

To answer your question, I didn't save the every day clothes, even when I thought I might have another. I did save the special outfits and such, but there was no way of knowing if I was going to have boy or girl or what season or how big, etc.. So I donated all the clothes as they outgrew them since I need the space.

My thought too was that I always buy them new clothes too, and I never spent a ton, so we would just buy what we needed when we had another (same with all the baby "equipment" we gave away).

I saved about half - which is still a lot considering there are both boy/girl clothes.

Re: If you are on the fence about having a third child

I have saved all of the big items- crib, bassinet, high chair. I saved most of the infant clothing. The clothes I have now I tend not to save.

I got rid of them all. If we do have another it won't be for another 4-5 yrs. At that time I will just buy new. Swing, Jumperoo, and stuff like that I kept but clothes are gone. We just don't have the room anymore to save all this stuff. My taste will probably change by then anyway and I will want to dress the baby in all different clothesChat Icon

Re: If you are on the fence about having a third child

I lent out almost everything after #1.

slowly things are getting returned back.

DH works with tons of single moms, I think slowly he will be bringing bags to work as we grow out of things.

If #3 happens it will be years from now.
