I try to cook at least 4-5 days a week, that doesn't always happen, but I try!

Same here! At least 3 times during the work week (and have leftovers once or twice) and then once on the weekends.

Re: Working Moms: Honestly, How Often Do You Cook?

I cook maybe twice a week. We don't get home from work until 7:30/8 most nights and being pg I just don't have the energy to start cooking then. I will make easy things like grilled cheese, mac and cheese, hot dogs.

Usually once a week my MIL makes extra and will give us leftovers.

I keep saying I will make things on the weekend and I never do.

Same - it's not always gourmet, sometimes it's soup and sandwiches, but I try to limit the amount of take-out to 1-2 per week.
I also do a lot on Sundays and freeze. That way cooking during the week isn't such a hassle.

I don't get out of work in midtown until 6:30 so by the time I commute home it's close to 8 so I don't often get the chance to cook. Luckily DH usually does but we do order in more than we should. Once DS is on table food exclusively we're going to have to be better. As it was I was mashing sweet potatoes for him at 10:15 PM monday night!

it varies. but on average, once or twice. (usually once during the week and once on the weekends.) when dd starts eating more table foods, it will have to be more often. just havent figured out how to do that yet. i dont get home until the earliest 6:30, usually closer to 7. I think Im going to have to cook more meals on the weekends and reheat during the week.

Re: Working Moms: Honestly, How Often Do You Cook?

I've only been a working mom for a little over a month now, but instead of cooking daily, I cook multiple meals one or two days a week. I divide the meals into one-portion servings and put them into old Chinese food containers (we've saved up a bunch over time). It's a huge time saver. DH takes a container for lunch every day and the kids and I have it for dinner. It also provides a little variety. There's always 2-4 different meals to choose from.

Re: Working Moms: Honestly, How Often Do You Cook?

My "meals" consist of pre-made stuff, like turkey meatballs and rice or chicken sausage and pasta, hotdogs, tacos. Quick stuff.

Maybe three times a week.

DH is cool with it though.

Not nearly as often as I should...and DH is the cook in our house for the most part too Chat Icon

Same here and living in Brooklyn there is always such great take-outoptions

Its so much $$ though- I started planning menus on Sundays and cooking then for at least 2 meals during the week. The recipe board has been helpful for this

I cook about 2x's and Dh cooks about 2x's...1 night we do "fend for yourself" which is usually cereal, pancakes or mac-n-cheese (stuff like that) and we go out/take in 2x's

I work PT and what's funny is it's the days that I DON'T work I can't seem to get dinner made! Chat Icon

I TRY to cook most nights, but often times I forget to take something out to defrost.

Same here!! I usually cook on the days I work - go figure. I usually cook 3 nights a week.

I typically cook Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Wednesday is left over night. Friday is pizza. Saturday is usually order in or dine out and Sunday totally depends what we are doing - I cook or we get Chinese.

I will admit I cook simple - pasta with brocolli or spinach in garlic and oil, spinach and mozzeralla raviolis, chicken cutlets (baked or fried), rice, mac and cheese, omlettes, soup in a can, chili, meatloaf, beef stew, turkey burgers, meatballs & pasta, etc. Nothing all that fancy!

Re: Working Moms: Honestly, How Often Do You Cook?

usually 5x a week, takeout 1 night and DH has 1 night a week where he has to cook. It usually is something simple like tacos, fajitas, quesadilla or hamburgers.
Sometimes I cook meals on Sunday so I just have to re heat during the week. I usually make 2 meals out of Sundays dinner, and most of the time I use the Crock pot once a week.
We also use the BBQ all year round.
