Rotavirus - anyones infant ever get it?
I gave my 2mth old the rotovirus vaccine today and wonder now if I made the right decision.
I have a 3 yr old in preschool and that was really my deciding factor - I am afraid she will take it home.
Is it as bad as they say if an infant gets it?

my child hasnt gotten it BUT i have done the testing on stools to see if children have it and that was enough to convince me

DD#1 had it when she was almost 2. It was horendous and she wound up in the hospital. I could not imagine if she was an infant, she was so.. sick, she laid there almost lifeless.

Same experience here. My DD was 2.5 when she contracted the virus and it was the worst thing I've ever experienced in my life. I really thought she was going to die. I also can't imagine an infant having to go through any of that.
ETA: DD was quarintined for 3 days in the hospital.

my dd had the vaccine! because durring my nursing rotation to PEDs i saw a 6 week old with the virus, a 15 month old and a 2 year old (all in the same week) it was awful and i would never want DD to have that so i gave it to her and am happy i did so!

My friend's daughter had it and she said it was absolutely horrible. After hearing about how sick she was, I was happy with my decision to get DS vaccinated for it.
