Need advice on topics for both my kids

1st is ds, he is 13 months old. He sleeps well one night, the next night he doesnt and this pattern repeats. On the nights he doesnt sleep well I am wondering if I should try CIO or if he is too old at this point. When he wakes up he stands in his crib and shakes it so I dont even know if CIO would work at all to help him settle.

2nd is DD. She has been full potty trained for a while now. About 6 months ago we started putting her to sleep in undies and she did great. For the past 3 weeks she has had about 6 accidents during the night. Should I try good nights or pull ups or is that regressing and I should deal with the laundry and what not.

Thanks!

hey Erica!

no advice for your DD - good luck! - but i an tell you that with DS, even though we did CIO at 5 months, we still have to do it occasionally if he has a hrd time sleeping during the night. he gets hysterical if i go in there so i have to let him cry. your DS is definitely not too old for CIO!

For DS, I would definitely do CIO to get him back on track. I don't think he's too old at all. Once in a while for naps, if we need to do it with DD, we do. Chat Icon Chat Icon

For DD, when we were potty training SD, we would put on undies and a pull over them when she went to bed until she didn't have any accidents, for a few weeks. So, if she was dry for about 2 weeks after waking up, we would take off the pull up. If she had an accident, we would put on undies with the pull up over it the next time she went to bed. This way, she could feel wet with the undies on (and hopefully learn) but the accident would not make a total mess. We also made sure the last time she had anything to drink was at dinner time. HTH! As far as DS I'd CIO, I don't think you're ever too old for it in my opinion.

As far as DD, I'd continue with just the panties. She's been in them for a long time and as long as she's not wetting herself consistently every night I'd just deal with the clean up. On occasion Roman will have a night terror and wet the bed. Maybe she is having a bad dream on occasion or is stressed about something.Chat Icon

cio for the 13 month old...DS was standing in his crib when we started this...he would just get so tired of standing and crying that eventually he would sit down and cry, then I would eventually find him in tripod position, face first sound asleep...Chat Icon
