Little Shelter Training classes and meet phoenix :)

Hi....DH and I just adopted another dog from Little Shelter. She is a 12 week old Pitbull Terrier and she is Beautiful! We named her Phoenix. Little shelter told me that the trainer Mike runs a 7 or 8 week program for free training but he doesn't start the pups until they are 6 months old. Has anyone adopted from little shelter and went for training there? The classes are free but i am not sure if i should bring her to our trainer now, or if we should hold out and bring her to little shelter at 6 months. anyone have any experience with little Shelter's training classes? TIA!

ETA: A picture of our Phoenix :)

First, congrats on adopting a shelter pet. That is so wonderful of both of you. Wish you the best of luck. My excoworkers adopted a dog from there and went to the training and found it helpful. If I was in your situtation I would go to my trainer now so you don't have any problems. Your dog is adorable.

Thank you! Yeah i think that is what we are going to do. We have a free vet visit from Little Shelter on Saturday. I am going to bring her there and then take her to my own vet the following Saturday. After my vet checsk her out i am going to make an appt at out trainer for an evaluation. I have started training with the techniques that we learned when we took Porter to training and so far she is doing good with it.

Congratulations! I think I might have seen her on Petfinder while doing my own search. She is SO beautiful!

Since you already have a good base of knowledge from previous training you've gone through, I don't think it would hurt to wait. Besides, she will need to acclimate to her new home and routine in the meantime and you may get a different experience out of her since she will have already bonded with you.

So how do they like each other, are they best friends already? We will be adding to our doggie family soon and I'm wondering how it will change their dynamic with us and our routines!

Thank you GreenFreak. her picture really does not do her justince. We actually wanted to adopt her sister we saw on the website and she was already adoped. So they showed us her and it was instant love. And Yes, Phoenix and Porter are best friends already. She is like his little shadow. They run around and play together. It's so cute.

Thank you Wendy!
