What is your evening routine with your toddlers?
Sorry for all the polls but I'm thinking maybe we need to rework our bedtime routine b.c it isn't working out anymore.
Can you all post what your nightly routine is and what time you start etc?
Also for those that have children who go to bed early - does your DH see your children at night? My DH doesn't get home most nights until 7 or 730 - sometimes later- rarely earlier. How does that effect your routine or does it?

Re: What is your evening routine with your toddlers?
On bath night (every other night usually), we do bath at around 7:30. Then into pajamas, take vitamin, brush teeth, read 3 books, bed by 8:15 at the latest usually. She’s asleep within 5 minutes usually. On non-bath nights, same routine minus the bath, in bed at same time.

Re: What is your evening routine with your toddlers?
5-5:30 he eats dinner
6:30-7 DH comes home and plays with him.
6:45 Jack gets a sippy cup of milk. At that time I start to put the toys away I make the two of them start to unwind.
7:00 we are upstairs. Depending on the night we either take a shower, or if we took one that day he goes right onto my bed. I put on one of his shows to watch, get his pjs ready and change him. We then shut the TV and "talk" about our day.
7:15-7:30 - go into his room. We have an angel that says a prayer so we do that every night. He kisses her goodnight. DH gets kisses. I get kisses. I make sure all of his animals are in the crib. Turn on the sound machine. Turn on the CD player. Shut the lights, tell him "Sweet Dreams and I love him" -- he says "Byeeeeeee" --
Some nights he will play with his animals for 30 minutes - other nights he will pass right out. I don't care if he's up in his crib for an hour - once that time comes when I shut the door I do not go back in.

We'll eat dinner anywhere from 5:30-6
Bath will follow around 7/7:30
Lately she's been getting a bedtime treat of watching Diego at 7:30
DH will read her a few books after that and she'll be in bed by 8.

Re: What is your evening routine with your toddlers?
I get home about 6 pm and DH ususally by that time has picked the kids up from daycare.
We eat from 6 - 7 and while we eat I feed DS #2 (5 months) and somehow put him down to sleep
At 7pm I give DS #2 (2 years old) a bath and he usually likes to play in there for a bit. Then we read stories until 8 pm
8 pm-- NIGHT!! NIGHT!!!

Re: What is your evening routine with your toddlers?
we do dinner from 6-6:45. lately we've been allowing him to watch cartoons during dinner to keep him in his high chair
at about 6:45 we do bathtime until about 7:15.
at 7:15 we put on pajamas and read a few books. then he drinks a cup of warm milk and goes to sleep between 7:30-8pm.

Re: What is your evening routine with your toddlers?
DH and I work together so we commute together. We generally get out of work around 5:30/6 but don't get home until 7:30/8.
Dh and I eat dinner and we give Kaydyn a snack (my MIL feeds her dinner around 5:30).
Then we put Kaydyn's pjs on, give her a sippy of milk while she watches a show on Noggin, read her a book, give all her stuffed animals kisses several times and then she goes to bed around 9:30/10.
I probably could put her in earlier but then we wouldn't get to spend any time with her at night. We don't spend any time with her in the morning because we literally wake her up and stick her in the car at 7:30am.

Dinner anywhere between 5:30-6:30. Playtime until 6:45 if we ate dinner earlier.
6:45 is bath time (every other night usually). On non-bath nights, it's more playtime, books, toys, etc.
7:00 pm is PJ's and watching Dora. If she wants a dessert, she will eat it while watching Dora.
7:30 Diego. When Diego is over, I say it's night night time. We clean up all the toys while watching Dora and Diego. She turns off the TV and goes to her room. I read one story and she goes to bed. Someimes she goes right to sleep, sometimes she will talk/play in her crib, but by 8:00 pm she is in bed.

Re: What is your evening routine with your toddlers?
We are on a later schedule here but our routine goes like this..
6 30---dinner
700---bath if she hasnt had one during the day since I am home.
7 30---8 30----she plays downstairs for a bit.
8 30--head upstairs to read about 4 books.
900----brush teeth, go to bathroom one more time, water the plant.
9 15---in bed, say our prayers and say goodnight.
Me or my dh stays in the room with her until she falls asleep..usually takes 5 minutes tops because she hasnt napped in a year and a half except for random ones here and there.
Works well for us. Sometimes its a struggle but she knows the routine well and when we waver, it completely throws her off.

5pm pick up from daycare
5-6 play
6:15 Dinner
6:45 Bath
7-8pm Dora and Diego with her last sippy of milk
8pm Brush teeth and bedtime.
Dh usually gets home around 7 except on his late nights so he sees her for about an hour.

Re: What is your evening routine with your toddlers?
As I said in your other thread, DD is 3, but her bedtime has been the same since before age 2.
I am divorced so DDs dad doesnt live with us obviously so the whole thing aboiut her seeing him before bed doesnt count here.
She eats dfinner at 5:30.
bedtime routine is from 7-7:30
pjs on read books brush teeth relax and watch a few min of TV
in bed at 7:30 , sing one or 2 songs and Im outta there.
