I have the CHI Flat Ceramic Iron Original 1 Inch and I love it!
I can wear my hair straight or create great curls with it.
ETA: As for price, I got it for about $75 at BJs a while back, but I think you can find it cheaper on the internet.

Just got the instyler on ebay for $60. It costs about $110 online. Love it!!

Remington Wet2Straight. Its about $30 at Walmart or Target. I've had it for about 4 years now and its still working great.
They also have ceremanic ones as well.

I love the Chi 
I currently use the GHD most of the time (though, it's way more expensive than the Chi.. around $250) ....... but my Chi is older and I still use it once in a while. It really does a great job! Honestly thought you might want to look into the Chi turbo. I never tried it- (mine is the original) .... but with the turbo you can adjust the temperature.
