Newbie here with House Troubles
Hi All! I'm new! I had to post about this...
DH and I found a house that we love and when our bank did the assessment, we found out that the taxes on the house we are in contract for is 3K more than it was listed by the sellers agent! This is how I feel ! Has anyone ever dealt with this situation?

Re: Newbie here with House Troubles
I am so sorry that is the worst. I always call the town to verify taxes. There was one house that someone wanted to put an offer on, I verified taxes and it was a simillar situation

Re: Newbie here with House Troubles
wow thats a big discrepancy- the real estate agent really should have done a better job of verifying the taxes- I would check with your attorney but the real estate agent may be partly liable for that- I know they carry "errors and omission" insurance for things in listings and this might qualify

Re: Newbie here with House Troubles
It's usually the buyer that is responsible for verifying all taxes. The listing agent should have used the correct taxes, but you really have no recourse here since the town isn't going to lower the taxes just because the listing agent screwed up.
Just have your attorney cancel the deal.

That's an interesting point and good to know. But how would you make a claim against something like this?
I highly doubt a Realtor is going to allow you to make this sort of the claim without a serious fight.

its an insurance policy- I would assume that you would get the money the way you do any other time- but her attorney will know better than I can guess lol
