Your Baby Can Read? anyone have any experience?
As a child i was extremely behind in reading and acutally needed resource and was made to feel stupid for a long time. as well so having some other learning disabilities that i was never qualified with while in school because my mother was unaware that you could do so. anyway i struggled alot in school my whole life. And when i see the infomercials for your baby can read i love what i see. and i would love to start teaching my DD early so that she never has to deal with the difficulites i had growing up..
does anyone have any experience with this program and is it worth the money?

It has been discussed a lot on here...
IMO, I don't think it is necessary unless DC is behind with phonics.
And EI today is so much better then when we were kids, so that will help spot any potential issues with your DD

ITA with the previous poster. I would just read, read, read and label things when you are out with DC or around the house as much as possible. Tell DC what you are doing, sing songs, etc. Then as DC gets older if you see potential problem areas, contact EI for help.
Many of these companies that produce these products make claims that are not sufficiently substantiated. Generally speaking, I wouldn't say there is anything very harmful about using products like this, but I don't think they will help anymore than doing the activities mentioned above, and by talking to and playing with dC, you are also teaching him/her how to communicate and social norms. DC will never learn these things from looking at flashcards or watching a DVD.
Sorry if this sounds harsh--I just really don't like the way these companies prey on parents. You are doing a great thing to look for things that will help DC have an easier time than you did.

Re: Your Baby Can Read? anyone have any experience?
I bought it for Ella and I would not call it a scam. We used the program with her and we also do other learning activities with her throughout the days. It helps her to identify colors, things, words, etc. However, you cannot rely on this program to do everything just the same way you cannot rely on teachers to teach your child everything. You have to contsantly read to your child and also teach your child different things.
It is a very good program and the earlier you start with the program the better. My daughter can now count from 1-15, knows her ABC, she recognizes words on her own, knows colors and shapes, and she forms very good sentences. This program along with me and DH constantly teaching her things really helps alot. Alot of people are shocked at how advanced Ella is and she just celebrated her 2nd birthday yesterday.

My Dad bought it for DD.
I use the materials like any other books we have. She actually loves the flashcards. We haven't watched that many of the DVDs.

another good way to get input is go on amazon and read the reviews; there is actually a speech pathologist on there who is not recommending it good luck

Re: Your Baby Can Read? anyone have any experience?
We LOVE it. An excellent curriculum all boxed up and ready to go. I am a special ed teacher and was hesitant to make this purchase...I have taught dozens of kids to read myself...but I wondered if this program could really lay a learning foundation for babies that I was not familiar with. I think it does!
Well worth the purchase price.
