Smaller Property Size (4,000sq.ft.)
If you have a smaller property size in Suffolk do you regret buying your house? Just looking for feedback

4,000 square feet is approximately a 1/10th of an acre
an acre is about 40,000 sq ft

the main reason we moved to suffolk was for the larger property sizes. If I would have bought 40x100 in suffolk, I would have regretted it.

Our old house was on 60 by 120 plot and while it was deep backyard, it was way to narrow. We now have an acre and I love it. I would have also settled for 1/2 acre, that is plenty big.

we have 75x100 and it's plenty big for us. We are in Suffolk, South shore.

I wanted 1/3 to 1/2 an acre, I am a gardener and wanted my dream landscape.
We settled on a first house with a 1/4 acre (100x100). I can wait for a larger yard for the next house because honestly, it's a lot of work! We had so much overgrown brush cleared, trees treated, there's the lawn to mow, garden beds to create and maintain, mulch to put down, flowers and shrubs to plant, weeding...
If this was a forever house, I wouldn't have accepted a 1/4 acre. But our situation is not the norm, either.
I guess my question to you is - what do you envision using the extra land for? A pool, playground, garden?

same here. DH and i really wanted the yard spare for our kids and to tnertain. i could have stayed in nassau and gotten a 40x100 and had a much better commute

You obviously know that a larger lot for our house was a priority (I was so stuck on that huh?). Anyway, 40x100 would bother me only because of the closeness of the houses together-almost being on top of one another.
(That other house that we bid on at the same as ours-on the busy street) that was 60x170 I think. And that yard was pretty close to the other houses (something I didn't like about it).
What do you plan to do in the yard? Have a pool, have room for pets? etc?
