Who can tell me about Massapequa?
What's the difference b/w Massapequa and Massapequa Park?
Also, we are trying to figure out which areas are best for us. Can anyone tell me the differences between Biltmore Shores, Nassau Shores and Old Harbor Green, if there are any? Also, that's pretty much the only areas we have looked in so far and if there is an area that you would recommend (south of Sunrise) please let me know.
One more question. If you don't have a waterfront house, are there public or private marinas where you can dock your boat locally?
Thanks!

Re: Who can tell me about Massapequa?
I don't have all of the answers to your questions, but I'll tell you what I know. My brother lives in Nassau Shores and it's really nice. He does have his own dock for the boat, but they also belong to Unqua Corinthian Yacht Club, where there is a marina. Not sure how you go about becoming a member, nor do I have any idea how much it costs, but it's so nice. They spend all summer there between the pool, the restaurant, and I'm pretty sure they also have a private area right near Tobay beach where they can dock & there's picnic tables/bathrooms/floating rafts/a small beach. I also have friends who used to dock their boat in Lindenhurst, which is not too far.
Massapequa Park is also very nice. It's such a cute little village.
I rented an apartment in North Massapequa for many years. After growing up on the North Shore, I have to say that I really liked Massapequa (espcially Mass. Park & the areas south of Sunrise) ALOT. If we hadn't moved OOS, we would have definitely tried to buy a house there.
HTH.

Massapequa overall is great. Lots of places to eat and shop. Just keep in mind that there are four school districts that serve the town: Farmingdale, Plainedge, Amityville, and Massapequa. Some are better than others.

Thanks for the info. That is very helpful. Are there village taxes associated with Mass. Park?

Yes - there are village taxes - worth it though. I feel like they're sweeping the streets every other day, PLUS - they're phenomenal when it snows. They start plowing as soon as the first flake hits the ground. I love the Park.
I also like that there is no soliciting in the village (so no annoying telelmarketers coming door to door - Verizon, Jehovah's Witnesses, etc) and all the rules and regulations keep it a nice looking place to live.

My brother just bought in massapequa. Great town great schools. Not sure about how the doclking works south Im sure their is a fee associated with it.
Also massapequa and park are considered part of Town of Oyster Bay and you can use Tobay beach which is awesome

Re: Who can tell me about Massapequa?
We just bought in Mass Pk in Feb, we LOVE it here. the village taxes are only $650 a year, and they really keep the town beautiful! The school districts are some of the best on LI, and I really can'tsay a bad thing about it.

Re: Who can tell me about Massapequa?
Harbor Green is probably the most expensive, Biltmore Shores and Nassau Shores are very nice - Nassau seems a bit more down to earth from my experience...Biltmore has the beach club.
The Park is great - some people complain about silly rules they have (no large for sale signs for example) but I personally like towns with rules like that, it's amazing what you see some neighbors try to do otherwise!
SD #23 is Massapequa, but all homes South of Sunrise (except East Mass) are in 23.
