Suggestions for removing burnt smell (bumped for update)

So lets just say I burned something on the stove and it was burning for quite some time by the time I realized it (I was in the back yard...I know, stupidChat Icon )

Well my entire house was filled with smoke which has since gone away by opening all my windows but the smell is awful and I have a feeling its going to stay that way for a while.

Any suggestions or recommendations on what I can do to dissolve this smell?

Re: Suggestions for removing burnt smell

I've heard vinegar helps to absorb odors. Put a bowl of it on the counter.

Yankee Candle makes a candle called good air/clean air. They sell it at bed bath and beyond.

It gets rid of bad odors. Doesn't cover up the smells.

I would try that. Good Luck!

Def put out a bowl of white vinegar to absorb the smell

also try cutting a lemon or orange in half, put it in a cup of water and put it in the microwave for 30 secs. Leave the cup out on the counter. The citrus smell will cover the burnt smell. We used to do this in my old office whenever someone burned popcorn in the microwave, it worked pretty well.

I always heard that vanilla scented candles neutralize the order from something burning.

Re: Suggestions for removing burnt smell

I just wanted to say thanks you everyone for all your suggestions.

2 days ago I placed small bowls of vinegar in each room of my house.

I also boiled some on the stove for about an hour as well as cut up 2 lemons and boil them with some water for about an hour.

Well I am pleased to announce the smell has completely dissipated!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Now for the candles to get rid of the vinegar smell...LOL
