Anyone else feel like they look like a total bum?
Honestly...I hate this post partum period. My uterus shrank really fast, so all I have is a little belly flab and maybe 8 lbs. to lose. The problem is BOOBS. HUGE. I always wore fitted clothes...so there's no way I can fit into my old tops. I've been wearing my maternity tops...hate it!!!
Anyone else feel this way? Not to mention this kid doesn't let me blow dry my hair or put on make up anymore! I felt so gross just going out to BRU just now...now that's bad!

I need a hair cut bad! My shirts don't fit either!! I just told DH I need new clothes. But I do still have about 15 more pounds to lose I'm still in maternity pants too! Re: Anyone else feel like they look like a total bum?
I am 5 months PP and still feel like this most days! I try so hard to get a shower in during the day, and it's impossible. What works for me is showering at night and blow drying my hair It's not what I really like doing, but in the AM, I can then just fix my hair quick and actually get some makeup on and feel like a human being

The first couple of months was really rough for me. I was actually glad to get back to work and normal clothes. That is when my old bod really started coming back. Your boobs will probably never be exactly the same again. Mine are at least a size bigger. DH loves them.

Re: Anyone else feel like they look like a total bum?
Omg! I could have wrote this myself. I am 8 weeks post partum and HATE getting dressed bc I have nothing to wear. My maternity clothes are so big on me. I lost over 40 lbs so far and I look so frumpy and my regular pants dont fit yet bc I still have 15 pounds to go too. Also I went up 2 cup sizes in bras (down 1 cup since delivering) so the bra situation is terrible. I need to go out and shop. But its so hard. I just came back from BRU and can't believe what I went out looking like too!

Re: Anyone else feel like they look like a total bum?
Right with ya Tara. After I had Emerson I spent weeks and weeks in jogging pants and tees, I never wore make-up and my hair........AAAAAHHHH!!! I just didn't bother since I was never leaving the house early on. VERY slooooooooowly it got better. I got a haircut, I wore better clothes, I did my make-up. It just took some time to feel "human" again.

Re: Anyone else feel like they look like a total bum?
Yes, I was like that the first few months too. It was in the dead of winter, all I wore were sweats. I didn't go anywhere, and was totally exhausted. Ironically though, I dried my hair more then because the babies were soothed by the sound of the hair dryer - they would usually fall asleep! I started fitting into my clothes again about 2 months PP. 3 months PP I was feeling more like myself - my clothes were fitting, I was getting out more, and the weather was getting nicer.

Re: Anyone else feel like they look like a total bum?
OKay girls..please dont take this the wrong way, but you must get out of this funk! In the morning, you HAVE to get yourself ready. I'm not saying get all dolled up for a night out of town, but take a shower, brush your hair, pull it back in a neat ponytail, put some blush on, mascara and some lip balm. When you look good, you feel good. No matter how hectic my day was, I always got myself ready in the morning. Even if I had on a sweatsuit, I still made sure I looked presentable. The summer is the easiet...throw on a tank top, pair of bermuda shorts (sweatpant type too), cotton skirt, anything that looks presentable and doesnt make you feel like a bum
You will also notice a change in your mood. Before I had my children, all of my friends and family gave me the same advice and I am glad I took it. It also gave me motivation to make sure I lost the baby weight and to be honest, the compliments from my Dh, family and friends were nice too.
I hope none of you got offended by this post, I just think it's important to NOT let yourself go after having a baby. Even if it only 2 weeks pp.

ITA. Even doing the basic getting ready routine makes a whole difference in my day.

Re: Anyone else feel like they look like a total bum?
My boobs made me feel like such a slob.
Even now when I look back at pics, I can't believe I was forced to leave the house with them.
I have zero advice about the boob situation. It is horrible. Everytime I wore underwire I would get clogged ducts, twice mastisis.
I blew up to a 36G. I could not find them anywhere without wire.
Jackets did not fit. Bras had zero support, plus the pads in their as well made me feel gross.
I just always wore t-shirts, go out and buy yourself quality ones from JCrew. Atleast you will feel together.
Blowing out my hair I was okay with...I can go days on a blowout...so it was worth it to blow it out instead of cooking dinner one night a week

Re: Anyone else feel like they look like a total bum?
Yes, and my child is 20 months so I am out of the postpartum period. But I can never find time for a hair appt. lately, or to dye my hair--it's almost two tone now. Forget about manis and pedis, just isn't happening.
Plus, I rarely wear makeup these days, and my clothes are mostly not fitting right, but I haven't lost enough weight for the next size down. So I'm a mess!
I think I was able to pull myself together more in the winter and spring, but since summer hit, DS is miserable until he gets outside. I do take a shower most days though, and try to put on lipstick at the least.
As for the postpartum weight, it will probably go away soon enough. Not everyone loses it quickly, some take longer, but if you eat sensibly and try to be somewhat active, you'll lose it.

my Mom told me the same thing - and i have to admit, it feels GREAT when I'm out (at the ped, my chiro, BRU, wherever) and someone says, "you just had a baby 3 weeks ago?! you look great - not even tired!"
It's amazing what a little concealer, mascara, and chapstick can do! I still have a pretty big gut.
