according to dh too many! when ds was smaller i would buy so much and he was either more interested in the paper or the first thing he opened. since he is older now (almost 6) the toys are getting more expensive and they arent as big so it looks kind of bare under the tree, meanwhile i spent a great deal of money!

well, we do things a little differently than most.. we don't like to set expectations for the kids.
Santa brings each kid 3 gifts. that's it. they can ask for toys.. no electronics from santa. Santa doesn't bring clothes either.
the rest is from DH and I .. we sign it mom and dad. depending on the money we have or the year we've had we had is how many gifts we get. they have the fantasy that santa makes the toys so they can ask for expensive things.. and i didn't want them to think they can ask for as many expensive things that they want.
If they ask me and DH for things, we can let them know if we think it is too expensive. they are allowed to ask for electronics, clothes, and toys from us. they also get a big family gift every year.. ex.. computer, trampoline, xbox 360 ...

hmmm well last year jacen was 6 months old, so we got him 1 thing.

This year i imagine we'll get him 1 big thing and maybe 1 other thing. He'll get tons from my in laws and other family members, so there's no need to go overboard.

The plan as of now is to get him a $500 bond since he'll only be 10 months and then get some toys

With my 8 year old, we tell her that she can put 10 things on her list for Santa. It is greedy to ask for more. However, if she asks for a big thing/s then she has to put less then 10. They little one just gets a few things, usually a big item(not necessarily ) and few little things.

For hanukkah DS gets 8 presents from us, one is a big present and then 7 smaller ones. To the parents that give 3 things from Santa, and the rest from mom and dad, I you. I think that is such a wonderful wonderful idea.

12-15 from us and santa. Usually like 5 from us and 10 from Santa.

probably his stocking and maybe 1-2 toys all from Santa (we never got gifts from our parents, just Santa). He'll also get A TON from my MIL & my parents

He will be 11 months old

for her first xmas, dd was only 6 months but she got a ton of stuff. i swore we werent gonna get her that much but i couldnt stop myself, i think we spent about $200. my inlaws spent about $150 and then she got a few little things from her uncles.
