Cleaning and rearranging the basement
Since the weather's been so terrible the last few months, I've been working on the basement. It's been a mess for years, and with the construction, it was even worse. I threw out a lot of garbage, donated stuff to the church Thrift Shop, got shelving units to organize things, and now I can finally walk around and find things in the basement....
This is one corner of the basement. There was a hole in the floor where the old drain went down, so I covered the drain (the cesspool that it went to is abandoned), and concreted over the hole. After I cleaned up most of the basement, I moved my exercise equipment into the corner. I still have the recumbent bike upstairs by one of the TVs, but everything else is down here. I still need to do some "sprucing up" of the area so it doesn't look so dingy, but at least I can find and use all of the equipment now. I'm thinking of painting the walls, and putting down some exercise equipment-friendly floor tiles.

Nice transformation! My DH and I have been working on ours - to get rid of boxes, etc from when we moved inside the house.

Re: Cleaning and rearranging the basement
Good job! I was just thinking about that myself, that it's time for me to vaccuum down there and get rid of some garbage.
The prev homeowners painted the walls of my basement, it makes a big difference! I just used Valspar concrete paint in light gray for the foundation - seems pretty good to me.

I painted one section of the basement with a white water repellant coating. Mainly for the water proofing, rather than the color, but it definitely made a huge difference. I'll definitely wind up painting it at some point. Makes it look lighter and brighter, it evens out all of the various colors in the concrete, and it makes it look more like a room, rather than just a basement.
Just one more project to add to my infinite list...
