Does anyone else have a child that will not nap at daycare?
This is starting to get ridiculous already!
Samantha is a GREAT sleeper. She sleeps thru the night and takes great naps at home
9-11 or 11:30 2/2:30-5:30 and a couple of cat naps in between
She's in bed no later than 7:30 most nights and sleeps until 7/7:30am on the weekends when we don't have to get her up for daycare.
Anyway, when she started daycare her napping was awful, and I was told, give it a few weeks for her to adjust. Well...instead of her naps getting better they are getting worse. Yesterday's naps looked like this:
9-9:15 12:40-1:10 3:30-4:00
I know part of the issue is that in the infant room, they all sleep at different times, and my DD is VERY much into being a part of everything and is really loving "playing" with the other kids now. However, the teachers told me yesterday morning's nap every single kid went to nap at the same time and only my daughter would not sleep. All the other kids slept for 1+hours.
I wouldn't mind it so much as it's really not affecting her nighttime sleeping, but the time I get to spend with her now after work is AWFUL. She is in the most horrific moods because she is so exhausted.
I miss my happy baby...
Anyone else deal with this? I know there's nothing I can do. I've tried to recreate her crib as much as possible, but it's hard to do in the daycare setting.

None of my children were ever able to nap ANYWHERE but home. So I am no help..... I was going to suggest sending in a lovey for her or something that smells like home?

We have the same issue. DS naps great at home and when we're out, but he barely naps at daycare. For a while, he'd fall asleep as soon as we got home, which made me sad b/c I hardly got any quality time with DS. He rarely takes an hour nap at daycare. It's usually closer to 30 minutes. Now, he tends to either take a 30-45 minute nap which starts on the way home and is then up for a while or he's up for a hour or so before he goes to bed.

Where is she sleeping - swing, bouncy, crib. Maybe try switching it up, she may sleep better in a crib. Are they putting her down after she eats? Is she too cold, too warm?

She is 6 months old. She only sleeps in the crib (at home and at daycare). She never sleeps in the swing (very rarely, besides which, they don't have swings in the older infant room). They put her down the way I put her down at home. She needs a nap 1.5/2 hours after getting up. From what I can tell the room is the same temp as her room at home.
It's so frustrating and it just makes having gone back to work that much worse

maybe try sending in one of your dirty shirts or a blanket that smells like you (try sleeping with it).

Not really sure that would work since the only place it's an issue is at daycare, and I really don't want to start something that I'm going to have carry over at home. She doesn't sleep with anything of mine at home or when she sleeps at my IL's. Like I said, she's a great sleeper, just not at daycare.
I guess it's just something I'm going to have to deal with.

Re: Does anyone else have a child that will not nap at daycare?
DS went to daycare 1 day a week from 10-12 months and was on a good nap schedule at home and my SIL's by then (AM and PM nap), but for some reason he would only sleep 45 min-1 hour at daycare versus longer at home and sometimes took only 1 nap not 2, when he really needed the 2nd nap (and would be cranky when we got home too). It got better when he went back at 14 1/2 months (also one day a week), I think it took two or three weeks before he was napping pretty close to what he did at home. I was OK with it as long as it didn't affect his nap at my SIL's or at home and it didnt. I think b/c its noisy/stimulating, fun and lots going on so its hard for them to sleep well till they really get used to it. Give it some more time
