Have you ever cheated on your hair stylist? Was it worth it?
I've been seeing the same stylist for about 3 yeaars. She always does a very good job. Sometimes it is better than others. Last time I saw her, she gave me free highlights. We have a good relationship.
This past weekend, I needed my hair done and it was her day off, so the salon assigned me someone else. She rocked. She did my hair so well. She's also younger and more "with it."
My regular stylist has risen through the ranks of this salon so she is now considered a "master" stylist and is the most expensive. The girl I saw this past weekend is new and considered a "creative" stylist and is about 20 bucks cheaper per cut.
It is possible that I can see this new stylist on my old stylist's day off...
but i feel guilty...

hmm, that's a tough question.
I know you feel bad, but I would ultimately do what's best for YOU. If you preferred the new stylist, I say go for it! I know you said you have a good relationship with the first one, but it IS a business after all. It's a service that you are paying for. Do what will make you happy and look the best!
Good luck!!

i agree - and i'm sure that it's not the first time it's happened to her.
if you happen to run into her, just tell her that it was a $$ thing and you hope she understands. if not, she's not a professional.

Re: Have you ever cheated on your hair stylist? Was it worth it?
I've been going to same person for the past 5 years now. I love the way she does my hair - from the cuts to the blow outs.
However, so does EVERYONE ELSE. It's hard to get an appointment with her when you need her. I always need to book at least 2 weeks in advance.
She just recently had her 2nd child, so she has cut her hours to 2-3 days a week. Saturday appointments with her fill up FAST.
I started seeing another stylist about a year ago, whenever I couldn't get an appointment with her. I like his work & actually prefer his cuts over hers (her blowouts are still the BEST though).
Now when I call, I ask if she has the day & time open. If not I book with him. I don't go out of my way to see her.

Re: Have you ever cheated on your hair stylist? Was it worth it?
I agree that they should understand about the money. My childhood friend is a great hairdresser. A bunch of us from the neighborhood have gone to her for years and she also became really popular and her rates went up and up.
When I met DH, his aunt works in an expensive salon in Muttington and the top hair stylist told me he would cut me hair for free! I mean how could you pass that up...So I've been going to him now for 4 years (it took 6 years for me to finally go over).
My friend totally understands about the money. It is not a big deal to her at all.

Re: Have you ever cheated on your hair stylist? Was it worth it?
I say YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I switched and amd so thankful! My old stylist was very good, but my new one has my same hair type and it has made a world of difference. I guess my question is this...why would you pay more for a job you like when you could pay less for a job you love!? It's not against her, but sometimes we need to switch to get what we want/need. I would just make sure you go on the old stylists days off!
